Job Summary

The University of North Georgia is currently accepting applications for a Tutor II – Math on the Gainesville campus. This position will tutor all levels of math and statistics offered by the University. Assist students and faculty with all services provided by the ACTT Center.

Responsibilities


  • Tutor all levels of Mathematics offered by the University in-person and online, emphasizing both academic content and student inquiries or learning styles.
  • Assist with the general operations of the ACTT Center, including covering the front desk when necessary and answering student questions
  • Demonstrate the use of tools and resources (manuals, guides, calculators, software) relevant to work with Math assignments.
  • Monitor peer tutors within your work area, including periodic observation, mentoring, and addressing concerns related to fostering a collaborative learning environment
  • Coach students throughout their academic careers in learning strategies and student-specific concerns. Provide referrals as necessary to other University services.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities


  • Must have proficiency with Microsoft software and graphing calculators.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from students, faculty, staff, and the general public.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general periodicals, professional journals, and technical procedures.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and administration.

Required Qualifications


  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Math or Math Education.
  • 3 years of experience in tutoring, supplemental instruction, other academic success services, and/or teaching experience.
  • Or equivalent combination of higher degree level and experience.


Proposed Salary

Standard Hiring Range: $41,018 – $45,120
