Job Description Summary:
The School of Nursing at the University of
Kansas Medical Center seeks a specialty coordinator for the Nurse Midwifery specialty in the DNP nursing program. This part-time (12-month
appointment), faculty position reports to the Chair, Department of Family, Community, and Acute, Chronic, and Health Systems. Appointment,
rank and salary are commensurate with experience.
Job Description:
The faculty member will be expected to fulfill the
tripartite mission of the School of Nursing: teach, participate in service-related activities that support the school, and engage in
clinical scholarship or practice. As an advanced practice nurse educator, the faculty member is encouraged to maintain a clinical
practice.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
- Teach nursing students in a variety of courses and settings (didactic
courses that are online, in-person, or hybrid, clinical settings, simulation, and clinical laboratory settings) primarily in the DNP
program. - Develop and sustain clinical placements for students.
- Participate in ongoing course and curriculum development,
implementation, and evaluation activities. - Participate in service-related activities (serving on committees/task forces, mentoring
students, etc.) to support the mission of the school. - Collaborate with other KU nursing faculty and external stakeholders such as
health system partners.

Required Qualifications
Education: Doctoral degree in nursing
(DNP or PhD).
Certification/License:
- Registered Nurse (RN) license and advanced practice registered nurse (APRN)
license from the Kansas State Board of Nursing (or be eligible for RN and APRN licenses in Kansas). - Possess and maintain a current
certification as an Nurse Midwife.
Work Experience
- One year of clinical experience as an Certified Nurse
Midwife
This position requires a formal degree in the cited discipline area(s) to ensure that candidates have the foundational
knowledge and skill set required to perform the duties of the position. The level of degree is based on accreditation requirements,
institutional standards of academic and professional excellence, alignment with peer institution benchmarks, and contributes to the
credibility and effectiveness of the role within the university community.
