Description

The Nursing Faculty & Practicum Coordinator provides teaching within the BSN program while serving as the primary leader for clinical and practicum coordination across the region. This role oversees student practicum scheduling, clinical instruction monitoring, preceptor engagement, and the development and maintenance of clinical partnerships and affiliation agreements with hospitals and healthcare facilities.

The position serves as the program’s representative to regional coordinating councils, healthcare systems, and clinical partners, ensuring high-quality, compliant, and sustainable clinical and practicum experiences that support student progression, workforce readiness, and program growth.


This role requires exceptional organization, prioritization, and communication skills and the ability to work effectively across academic and clinical environments.

This position is a non-tenure track, full-time, 12-month appointment.


Primary Responsibilities

Clinical & Practicum Coordination


  • Coordinate, schedule, and oversee all student clinical and practicum placements across the BSN program.
  • Serve as the primary liaison and representative of the nursing program to hospitals, healthcare systems, and community agencies.
  • Represent the program on regional coordinating councils or clinical placement consortiums, as applicable.
  • Develop, cultivate, and sustain affiliation agreements with hospitals, clinics, and healthcare facilities.
  • Collaborate with healthcare partners to identify new practicum opportunities and expand placement capacity.
  • Maintain and manage clinical contracts and affiliation documentation in collaboration with program leadership.
  • Ensure clinical and practicum experiences meet state board of nursing, accreditation, and institutional requirements.
  • Coordinate onboarding, orientation, and communication with clinical preceptors.
  • Conduct regular communication and follow-up with preceptors regarding student performance, expectations, and evaluation.
  • Monitor student practicum progression and address placement, performance, or site concerns.
  • Conduct site visits and meetings with clinical partners as needed (travel up to 20%).
  • Demonstrate strong ability to manage complex schedules, competing deadlines, and multiple stakeholder relationships.

Teaching & Faculty Responsibilities

  • Teach nursing courses based on expertise and program needs in didactic, clinical, and/or simulation settings.
  • Provide course-level practicum instruction, oversight, and monitoring in collaboration with course faculty.
  • Participate in curriculum development, review, and continuous improvement.
  • Advise and mentor students to support academic success and professional development.
  • Contribute to accreditation documentation and regulatory reporting related to clinical education.
  • Participate in faculty meetings, committees, and shared governance activities.
  • Engage in service and program initiatives consistent with faculty role expectations.

Program & Partnership Support


  • Support program assessment, evaluation, and continuous quality improvement related to clinical education.
  • Collaborate with the Simulation and Skills Lab Coordinator to align clinical, simulation, and practicum learning.
  • Support student onboarding and clinical readiness processes.
  • Participate in admissions events, orientations, and program outreach activities.
  • Contribute to strategic workforce and partnership initiatives supporting program growth.


Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Nursing from an accredited institution.
  • Current, unencumbered RN license in Missouri or eligibility to obtain.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of recent clinical nursing practice.
  • Experience in medical-surgical, critical care, or ICU nursing strongly preferred.
  • Experience in clinical teaching, precepting, or student supervision.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize work, manage time, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with faculty, staff, students, and healthcare partners.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association.
  • Ability to meet all clinical site health, immunization, background check, and drug screening requirements.

Highly Preferred Qualifications


  • Doctorate in Nursing or related field.
  • Experience teaching at the baccalaureate level.
  • Experience with clinical coordination, practicum scheduling, or preceptorship programs.
  • Knowledge of state board of nursing regulations and accreditation standards.
  • Experience with program assessment, evaluation, and quality improvement.
  • Strong commitment to student success and workforce development.
