Description

Position involves preparing for and teaching courses in assigned discipline in order to achieve course requirements and student success outcomes. Course assignments may occur in a classroom setting, learning lab, or contracted facility.

Specific instruction to include teaching the Nursing Aide curriculum as assigned which may include lecture, laboratory and clinical skills training. You will review lesson plans and prepare for class instruction, grade and record assignments, actively promote student retention, and perform related work as required.



Examples of Duties

  1. Teach assigned classroom courses.
  2. Create and maintain syllabi for courses assigned and ensure course content and requirements meet the requirements of college and accreditation agencies.
  3. Design and implement appropriate assessment methods to evaluate course effectiveness and confirm achievement of student learning outcomes.
  4. Evaluate student performance and provide students with timely and meaningful feedback on progress in the course(s).
  5. Maintains accurate classroom records, including attendance and grading documentation.
  6. Hold appropriate office hours for meeting with and assisting students.
  7. Communicate consistently with full-time and adjunct faculty in the assigned departments(s) and the Workforce & Economic Development staff.
  8. Attend and participate in staff meetings and in-service programs within the department and college-wide; serves on college committees as encouraged/assigned.
  9. Support and serve as a role model for our mission, vision, and student service initiatives.
  10. Follow all college policies, procedures, and compliance requirements, and demonstrate adherence to professional teaching ethics in all communications and practices.
  11. Complete additional duties as assigned.

Typical Qualifications


Education, Certification, Licensure:

  • Active State of Michigan Registered Nurse (RN) License
  • CNA Train the Trainer Certification or experience with teaching adults.
  • Current Nurse Aide Trainer permit, or ability to obtain the permit.


Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years experience in the nursing field.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in a long-term care facility.
  • Previous experience in a community college environment preferred.

Supplemental Information

  • Knowledge of course content and learning objectives of assigned course(s).
  • Ability to develop and effectively deliver course content/objectives and facilitate an effective learning environment for students to maximize their success.
  • Multidisciplinary focus and ability to align teaching with the broader goals and objectives of the college.
  • Knowledge of computer and educational technology and ability to effectively integrate technology into the classroom.
  • Ability to plan, organize and manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Must possess excellent interpersonal skills and be comfortable working in a close, collaborative manner with other faculty and administration.
