Essential Functions


The Coordinator of Undergraduate Clinical Teaching oversees all aspects of clinical
fieldwork for undergraduate teacher preparation programs, including yearlong teacher residency placements and single-semester clinical
teaching experiences. This role ensures high-quality, developmentally appropriate clinical practice that aligns with program standards,
state requirements, and partner district expectations. The coordinator serves as a key liaison among university faculty, school partners,
mentor teachers, and candidates to support effective, equitable, and practice-based teacher preparation.

Clinical Placement &
Partnership Coordination


  • Develop, maintain, and strengthen partnerships with school districts, campuses, and mentor
    teachers.
  • Coordinate placement processes for teacher residency and single-semester clinical teaching experiences.
  • Match
    candidates with mentor teachers and placement sites based on program needs, certification areas, and
    candidate strengths.
  • Monitor
    placement capacity and collaborate with district partners to ensure high-quality clinical learning
    environments.
  • Serve as a field
    supervisor for a maximum amount of candidates.

    Program Oversight & Quality Assurance

  • Ensure clinical teaching experiences
    meet state, accreditation, and program standards.
  • Oversee implementation of teacher residency models, including co-teaching
    structures, gradual release frameworks,
    and mentor-resident collaboration.
  • Support single-semester clinical teaching by aligning
    expectations, assessments, and supervision practices.
  • Collect and analyze data related to candidate performance, mentor teacher
    effectiveness, and placement quality to
    inform continuous improvement.

    Candidate Support & Supervision


  • Provide guidance to
    candidates throughout their clinical experiences, including orientation, expectations, and
    professional conduct.
  • Collaborate with
    university supervisors to ensure consistent observation, coaching, and feedback practices.
  • Address candidate concerns, placement
    challenges, or performance issues in partnership with program leadership.

    Mentor Teacher & Supervisor Development

  • Recruit,
    train, and support mentor teachers and site coordinators.
  • Facilitate professional development related to coaching, co-teaching,
    assessment, and effective mentoring.
  • Support university supervisors through calibration activities, training, and ongoing
    communication.

    Curriculum & Assessment Alignment


  • Collaborate with faculty to ensure clinical experiences align with
    coursework, program outcomes, and state
    competencies.
  • Support implementation of performance assessments, observation tools, and
    evaluation rubrics.
  • Contribute to curriculum development related to clinical practice, teacher residency, and field-based
    learning.

    Compliance & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate records of placements, mentor assignments, candidate progress, and
    required documentation.
  • Prepare reports for accreditation, state agencies, and internal program review.
  • Ensure compliance
    with district policies, university requirements, and state regulations governing educator
    preparation.

    Required
    Qualifications



    1. Master’s degree in Education or a related field.
    2. Minimum of three years of successful P-12 teaching
    experience.
    3. Experience supervising, mentoring, or coaching teacher candidates or early-career teachers.
    4. Strong organizational,
    communication, and relationship-building skills.

    Preferred Qualifications



    1. Experience with teacher residency models
    or clinically intensive preparation programs.
    2. Familiarity with state educator preparation requirements and accreditation
    standards.
    3. Experience working collaboratively with school districts and university partners.
    4. Demonstrated commitment to
    equity-centered and practice-based teacher preparation.

    Conditions of Employment

    Schedule

    Generally, the normal work hours for the university are Monday through
    Thursday, 7:30 – 5:30 pm; Friday, 8:00 am – 12:00 pm with a one-hour lunch. The individual holding this position may need to be available
    early morning, evening, and on weekends to meet the needs of the department. Hours worked may differ with some departments.



    Standard Working Conditions



    1. Able to lift various materials up to 25 pounds on an occasional basis.
    2.
    Able to bend, crouch, and reach continuously.
    3. Physically able remain seated, frequently to continuously.
    4. Able to remain standing
    up to 15% of the time.
    5. Possesses dexterity abilities required to perform job duties including extensive keyboard work, operating
    office equipment, performing filing, and other job-related responsibilities that include extensive wrist and hand movement.
    6. Standard
    working conditions may differ depending on department and occupation
