Position Summary
The Fire Safety & Emergency Services Coordinator reports to the Assistant Vice President of Public Safety and Transportation and is accountable for the planning, administration and management of emergency management and fire safety programs throughout the university to ensure compliance with all applicable local, state and federal laws, regulations and standards concerning fire and life safety.

Principal Accountabilities
- Coordinate the University’s emergency management function to provide effective crisis preparedness, response, mitigation, and recovery efforts.
- Develop, implement, and maintain emergency management plans and procedures to meet requirements of applicable Federal, state, and local laws.
- Coordinate exercises and drills to periodically test emergency management plans and procedures.
- Develop, coordinate, maintain, and document appropriate emergency response training and/or instructions for the University.
- Oversee crisis management team activities on campus to maintain compliance with University emergency management plan and in accordance with applicable Federal, state, and local laws.
- Coordinate and periodically tests the University emergency notification systems.
- Collaborate with University departments for periodic review of changes or modifications to revise emergency management plans.
- Inspect all fire safety equipment and ensure that it is in proper working condition.
- Oversee the appropriate location of fire lanes, parking signs, etc.
- Coordinate with Facilities to ensure maintenance and inventory of fire safety equipment, fire alarm systems, sprinkler systems, and other suppression systems.
- Maintain accurate and up to date fire safety inspection records.
- Participate in a campus crisis management team with 24-hour response availability.
- Assist in preparing and monitoring department budget.
- Coordinate the training, certification, and re-certification of department EMTs, and EMRs.
- Other duties as assigned.

QUALITIES AND CHARACTERISTICS:
- Strong interpersonal skills to effectively interact with internal and external contacts.
- Ability to maintain composure, problem-solve, and respond appropriately in times of emergency or stress.
- Open and responsive to direction and feedback.
TRAINING/QUALIFICATIONS: Best serviced by a person with:
- An undergraduate degree.
- Certification in ICS/NIMS 300 & 400 is required.
- Extensive emergency management and fire control background.
- Thorough knowledge of all federal, state, and local laws/regulations pertaining to fire/life safety.
- Experience with incident response command and control is a priority.
