Position Summary
The Community Colleges attract students
from a wide range of academic preparation to their two-year liberal arts degree programs as well as to their technical, occupational and
career certificate programs. The assignment of students to appropriate courses and instructional levels depends on assessment of their
academic preparation and, in many cases, requires remedial and supplemental instruction and assistance.



The Placement Testing
Specialist assists in this effort by performing assessment testing of students’ basic academic skills at a Community College. In some cases,
the position may be assigned to a student services department to provide administrative support services in addition to testing. When
assigned to an Academic Support Center, the position may be given tutoring, administrative support and personal computer work
assignments.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Under the direction of the Director, Academic Support Center, Director
of Admissions or other administrator, the Placement Testing Specialist is accountable for assisting in the operation of the College’s
learning assistance program through effective performance in these essential duties:

  • Test
    administration
  • Administrative support
  • Training and leading assigned staff

Additional responsibilities
include:


  • Attendance and participation at convocation and commencement ceremonies
  • Service on assigned committees and task
    forces
  • Attendance and participation at committee, staff, informational and professional meetings which may occur during evenings and
    weekends.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in an appropriately related field together with one
(1) or more years of related experience; or a combination of education, training and experience which would lead to the competencies
required for successful performance of the position’s essential duties.


Required Knowledge, Skills, and
Abilities:

  • Computerized testing and instruction methods
  • Training and leading staff
  • Ability to work effectively with
    individuals from diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds, including individuals with
    disabilities
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
    (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams)

Preferred Qualifications


  • Experience with college-level placement testing
    platforms (e.g., Accuplacer, ALEKS, or similar assessment systems).
  • Experience using student information systems (e.g. Banner) and
    data reporting tools used for test administration and academic placement workflows.
  • Experience in an academic support, testing
    center, or student services environment within higher education.
  • Experience training, coaching, or leading student workers or
    support staff in a testing or academic support setting.
  • Experience collaborating with other student support offices to create and
    execute testing schedules that meet the needs of students, which may include schedule flexibility to support some evenings and weekends
    during peak enrollment periods or to meet student testing accommodation needs.

    $58,550-$62,478 approximate annual
  • Salary is based on qualifications, education, job-related experience, and internal equity

Selection
Process
