Job Summary

Registered Respiratory therapists in the field of respiratory therapy will assist the students of the Dalton State Respiratory Therapy Program to become more successful and independent learners. Peer tutors help integrate effective learning and study strategies for students while clarifying and reinforcing course content, assignments and material.

  • Flexible working schedule
  • Must dedicate a minimum of 3 hours per week to tutoring availability
  • Must schedule dedicated hours with the Program Director in advance
  • Virtual sessions will be held via Teams

  4. Copy of RRT license in either Georgia or Tennessee

Compensation is based on certification and years of experience:

1-3 yrs experience in the field / 1 additional certifications in the field = $25 per hour


4-10 yrs experience in the field / 2 additional certifications in the field = $30 per hour

> 10 yrs experience in the field / >3 additional certifications in the field = $35 per hour


Required Qualifications

  • Must hold an associate’s degree in respiratory therapy from an accredited program.
  • Must be a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT).
  • Must hold a valid RRT license in either Georgia or Tennessee.
  • Must provide a letter of good standing at their current place of employment within the field of respiratory care.
  • Must have a commitment to student learning and success.
  • A foundational understanding of academic integrity.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Outlook, SharePoint and Teams.

Preferred Qualifications


  • At least 2 years of critical care experience in the field of Respiratory Therapy.
  • Additional certifications including but not limited to: Adult Critical Care Specialist (ACCS), Pulmonary Function Specialist (PFT), Asthma Educator (AE-C), COPD Educator, Neonatal/Pediatric Specialist, Sleep-Disorder Specialist (SDS)

ABILITIES
Ability to communicate appropriately and professionally.
Ability to adapt quickly, as a virtual tutoring consists of students requesting assistance in various topics.
Ability to handle confidential information.
Demonstrated ability to maintain dependability through. consistent performance and accountability.



KNOWLEDGE
Knowledge of academic integrity and ethical use of AL.
Knowledge of job-related software programs.

SKILLS
Skill in organization and time management.
Skill in oral and written communication.
Skill in interpersonal communication.
Skill in decision-making and problem solving.
