Job Description:

The primary responsibility of the English tutor is to provide one-on-one or group support to students in who are currently enrolled in writing-focused, English, literature, and ELL courses. The tutor’s work is informed by best practices and the mission of TASC.

The Professional English Tutor will also be responsible for the following:

• Assisting students with homework, projects, test preparation, papers, research and other academic assignments.
• Demonstrating academic best practices for specific subjects and assignments, including research and writing.
• Working with students to help them understand key concepts, especially those learned in the classroom.
• Providing students positive and constructive feedback.
• Building meaningful connections with students from diverse backgrounds.
• Attending staff meetings several times each semester.

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in English, Creative Writing, Communications, Literature, Education or a related area is required
• Fluency in Spanish and/or Haitian Creole in addition to English desired
• Ability to work independently
• Proven ability to work with a diverse faculty, staff, and student population
• The tutor is needed Monday and Wednesday 9am to 5pm in-person on the Chelsea campus

Preferred Requirements:

• Master’s degree is preferred
• 1+ years of tutoring or related experience preferred

Additional Information:

Salary: $36.55 an hour at 18 hours a week. Part-Time Non-Benefited position.
