About This Role
The
Agricultural Research Center-Hays, branch of the Kansas Agricultural Experiment Station, consists of 6,100 acres of crop and rangeland and
supports a large beef cattle research project. This position has primary responsibility for the operation of the center’s research feedlot
(200-350 head) and feed mill to include implementation of research protocols designed by the faculty project leader, animal health
maintenance, and keeping accurate records of activities.

Worksite Description
This position is
On-site.
All employees must reside in the United States when they begin working to comply with state law. K-State is
unable to provide remote or hybrid work opportunities for residents of the state of Idaho.
What You’ll Need to
Succeed
Minimum Qualifications:
- Requires one year of relevant experience and high school
diploma.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ability to communicate in English, both orally and in writing, in
order to direct others and exchange information is essential to discharging the responsibilities of the position. - Skills in
operating computers to enter and manipulate data and perform data analysis on statistical programs. - Ability to handle all sizes of
animals including feeding, health care, and measuring responses to treatment. - Knowledge of horticultural, range and/or greenhouse
management practices. - Ability to keep accurate and complete records of research operations and the ability to develop lab
techniques and conduct analysis and calculations. - Knowledge of safety requirements for work with or around machinery, chemicals,
and/or large and small animals. - Ability to operate and maintain field, research, and chemical application equipment as well as
perform acceptable farming procedures and practices associated with field preparation. - Ability to drive tractors in straight rows
as required for plot farming. - Supervisory and human relations skills.
Additional Role Information:
- Valid driver’s license to permit incumbent to operate automobiles, pickup trucks, and farm trucks (up to 24,000 GVW) having standard or
automatic transmissions once employed.
