Position Summary
The Department of Animal Sciences seeks applications on an ongoing basis from individuals who are interested in providing care and maintenance of horses and facilities at the Temple Grandin Equine Center, Fort Collins location.

Essential Job Duties
- Provides care for the well-being of horses, including feeding and watering horses, blanketing horses, exercising horses, and determining if horses need to be housed indoors or outdoors, based on weather. Loads/unloads hay, grain and other feed and bedding, as needed.
- Provides security and cleanliness of facility, including locking and unlocking facility’s entrance gate and facility doors, cleans stalls and outdoor pens, cleans arena fencing, stalls, and provides general indoor arena cleaning, sweeping and fence repair as needed.
Condition of Employment
Pre-employment criminal background check (required for new hires).
Available to work early mornings and or evenings, and some weekends and holidays if needed.

Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma, General Education Development (GED), or equivalent required.
- Experience caring for horses including feeding, providing housing, monitoring general health and providing basic veterinarian care, blanketing horses, leading, walking, and transporting horses, and evaluating horses for lameness, vices, or other unwanted conditions.
- Ability to lift up to 80 pounds (hay bales) approximately four times per day (with equipment to help lift and transport the hay).
- Ability to work in inclement weather, including dust, moist, hot and cold conditions.
- Ability to secure a valid driver’s license or access to a licensed driver by the employment start date.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in equine sciences, animal sciences, or related field.
- Veterinarian Technician associates degree or vocational degree
- Previous work experience at an equestrian boarding or training facility, equine veterinarian hospital, or equine assisted therapy center.

Salary Range
$38,00 – $40,000
