Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Dining Services Worker A for Dining Services.
Among the key duties of this positions are the following:
- Guides and instructs a group of Dining Services Workers in the performance of general and specialized food handing, dish room operations, and the maintenance of sanitary cash ops/dining Halls.
- Provides dining room services, including cash register duties.
- Performs any duties of the group.

Minimum Education and Experience
- Six months food handling experience.
Certifications/Licenses
- Ability to pass the Food Handler’s Certification.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to read, write, and effectively communicate with customers.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a fine dining environment; bar tending; guiding and training wait staff; cashiering and cash handling.
- Knowledge of Aloha or other POS.
- Cash and credit card handling.
- Experience in restaurant and banquets: reception, tableside service, a-la-carte service.
- Proven ability to set up a buffet.
- Bar service knowledge, basic wine, spirits and cocktail knowledge.
- Ability to understand and gather equipment needs based on EventMaster packing lists.
- Phone and in-person customer service.
- Ability to take reservations and decide locations to sit guests based on floor plan assignments.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Ability to stand for entire shift.
- Ability to lift and carry food and equipment up stairs.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Special Conditions
- Shift/Hours: Sunday – Thursday 2:00 pm – 10:30 pm
- Flexible schedule to include nights and weekends.
