Summary of Job Duties:
The Cleanroom Manager ensures
operational readiness, cleanliness, and contamination-control practices for the University of Arkansas Nano Institute Cleanroom, including
supervision of one staff member and coordination with users and service providers to protect sensitive research processes and
equipment.

Key Responsibilities
* Lead and document routine and periodic cleanroom cleaning (including deep-clean activities)
using cleanroom-compatible methods and materials.
* Maintain contamination-control and housekeeping standards across gowning, process,
and support areas.
* Supervise and train one direct-report staff member; assign work and verify completion and quality.
* Manage user
training, access, and billing.
* Maintain SOPs, checklists, and logs; identify issues, implement corrective actions, and drive continuous
improvement.
* Coordinate cleaning schedules and access with faculty, students, staff, contractors, and maintenance to minimize
disruption.
* Manage inventories and procurement requests for cleaning consumables and gowning-related supplies; ensure safe chemical
handling, PPE use, and appropriate waste management.



Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is
the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with
others.


Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:

  • At least five years of
    nano/microfabrication experience in a cleanroom environment
  • Experience with cleanroom protocols and maintenance
    procedures
  • Experience leading work activities, training others, or supervising staff
  • Ability to follow written procedures,
    maintain accurate records/logs, and work safely with chemicals and PPE

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Prior experience in
    an ISO-classified cleanroom and/or academic shared-user facility
  • Familiarity with contamination-control concepts (particles, fibers,
    residues, cross-contamination)
  • Experience maintaining SOPs and training documentation; basic computer skills for logs/inventory
    tracking

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

  • Work is performed in and around a cleanroom; gowning protocols
    and PPE are required
  • Requires standing, walking, bending, reaching, and lifting/moving supplies and equipment (within University
    guidelines); schedule flexibility may be needed for maintenance emergencies
