POSITION SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Facility Operations Supervisor, the University Center Lead Custodian cleans, removes waste and recycling, and monitors building’s appearance. Ensures cleanliness, orderliness, and safety in assigned areas along with any special cleaning projects. Works with the student custodians to guide the custodial work of the day. Manage cleaning projects during breaks. Make recommendations for new processes, procedures, and equipment for the needs of the University Center and University Center Proper areas. Leads the custodial work of others and responds to custodial emergencies.
Typical Schedule is Monday – Friday 11:00 AM- 7:00 PM. Occasional nights and weekends may be required depending on building needs.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Utilizes basic equipment and supplies to clean assigned facility areas and remove waste and recyclables
- Monitors and secures facility interior and exterior entrances and reports issues to appropriate entities
- Maintains organization of supply areas and equipment, documents inventory, and requests additional supplies as needed
- Documents and reports repairs, violations, and pest control needs
- Maintains clean and clear walkways to ensure they are free of debris, litter, snow, and ice
- Assists with the schedules, monitors staff on shift, and communicates with staff and assists with basic training
- Responds to facility emergencies and hazardous situations, and escalates incidents according to established policies and procedures
- Maintain sanitary conditions in hallways and lounge areas daily
- Maintain lobby and entryways daily
- Cleaning during semester and summer breaks
- Documents and reports repairs, violations, and pest control needs
- Performs other duties as assigned

- High School Diploma
- Successfully complete a post offer employment essential job function screening test
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in custodial work

The pay rate is $18 an hour. A shift differential of $0.80 per hour is applied to hours between 6:00 pm and 6:00 am.
The selected candidate must be able to pass a post-offer employment test.
A six-month probationary period is required.
