Dining Room Supervisor

This
position is responsible for overseeing the set up, service, and clean up periods of the Dining Room. This position also directly supervises
the student work staff and provides the necessary training and scheduling of student and part time workers. Oversees the Work-Study program
with assistance from the Dining Services Operations Manager. Typical schedule of 5:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday
with Thursdays off each week. Work every other Saturday and Sunday 7 a.m. until 3:30 pm.

Primary
Duties



1. Ensure that meals are set up in a timely fashion, proper food temperatures are maintained and documented, and meal
periods are running smoothly and efficiently.
2. Consistently train and mentor all student and part-time workers to ensure the restaurant
is clean, product is presented and served properly and excellent customer service is achieved.
3. Ensure that food is properly stored and
equipment is properly cleaned and stored after meals.
4. Utilize shift cards to ensure restaurant is properly staffed and scheduling
needs/changes are communicated to the Assistant Manager and other Supervisors.
5. Supervise and assign daily tasks to student and
part-time workers to ensure quality customer service is given and excellent food is served at all times. Exercise corrective and
disciplinary action as necessary.
6. Help to plan, organize and implement dining room Monotony Breakers.
7. Facilitate performance
appraisals for adult workers as needed.
8. Know, follow, and enforce proper cash policies. Responsible for safe, deposits, change orders,
and cash advances.
9. Oversee proper portion size to ensure correct utensils are being used and safety and sanitation regulations are
being followed in all aspects of the operation.
10. Maintain proper cleaning of ice cream machine, troubleshoot any problems with it and
ensure machine is filled and used properly.
11. Ensure compliance with professional practice manual, student employee manual, and the
Messiah College Community Covenant.
12. Maintain consistent and reliable attendance.

Secondary Duties



1.
Decorate dining room for seasons, special events and theme meals.
2. Assist in all Dining Services areas as needed.
3. Other duties as
assigned.

Qualifications
Education Required


High school diploma

Experience
Required


ServSafe certification within 6 months of hire date

Experience Preferred


2 years
food experience

Skills, Characteristics Required


Ability to understand the requirements of each job in the
food court, dishroom, and dining room.
Excellent communication skills including the ability to train, monitor and communicate with both
student and part-time workers.
Demonstrated knowledge of portion sizes, and use and care of all equipment.
Excellent organizational
skills including the ability to analyze scheduling needs, organize and communicate student schedules, and maintain Work-Study files.
Effective time management skills enabling productivity in a high volume environment.

Special Working
Conditions


Staff member must be able to lift 50 lbs using proper lifting technique. Must be able to perform all essential
job functions, which require prolonged standing on one place, pushing, pulling, lifting and walking on hard surfaced floors. This position
is essential; employees providing essential services must report to work as scheduled by their supervisor in the event of an emergency
closing or delay.
