Job Summary
The Academic Placement and Analytics Specialist (Business Analyst) serves on
the AESE Operations Team and works day-to-day within the Data and Assessment unit, reporting directly to the Indiana University (IU)
Bloomington Placement Administration Director/Associate Director of Operations and Assessment. This role is both analytical and
collaborative in nature, supporting ongoing data collection, reporting, and system workflows while partnering closely with leadership on
strategic initiatives related to placement, career outcomes, and student success. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys owning
day-to-day processes while also contributing to larger, long-term projects and cross-functional initiatives.

Responsibilities
- Manages the online placement examination support for the IU Bloomington campus.
- Serves as the
primary operational contact for placement- and data-related support tickets, ensuring timely resolution and clear communication with
stakeholders. - Coordinates closely with advising, Accessible Educational Services, and IT partners related to placement exams and
data systems. - Serves as Administrator on multiple software platforms used to collect, maintain, and report placement, experiential
learning, and career outcomes data. - Develops routine and ad hoc reports to monitor trends in placement engagement and graduate
outcomes. - Manages the career outcome data collection process for the College of Arts and Sciences First Destination and alumni
outcomes. - Maintains overlapping and cyclical data collection efforts for current students, recent graduates, and
alumni. - Ensures accurate collection, validation, and reporting of experiential learning, first destination, and employment data to
IU system partners and national consortia. - Consistently documents data retrieval, cleaning, analysis, and reporting processes to
ensure continuity and transparency. - Supervises and trains part-time data interns engaged in outreach, data collection, and data
maintenance. - Provides regular feedback, coaching, and development opportunities for student employees.
- Supports workload
prioritization and quality control across student-led data efforts. - Partners closely with the IU Bloomington Placement
Administration Director/Associate Director of Operations and Assessment on strategic initiatives related to data collection campaigns,
longitudinal studies, and integrated reporting. - Assists with larger research projects that combine placement, outcomes, and
engagement data to support decision-making and storytelling. - Contributes to the development and execution of annual action items
aligned with AESE and university strategic plans. - Participates in AESE-wide initiatives and cross-functional projects led by the
Assistant Dean and Senior Director of Operations & Strategy. - Assesses projects and initiatives to prioritize work based on competing
needs, deadlines, and institutional impact. - Tracks project timelines and proactively communicates progress, risks, and dependencies
to stakeholders. - Manages routine data requests, oversee student data interns, and serves as the primary point of contact for
day-to-day placement- and data-related tickets. - Contributes to larger studies, data integrations, and institution-wide assessment
initiatives aligned with AESE priorities and the university’s strategic plan.
General Responsibilities
- Conducts experienced assessments to understand client business needs and strategic direction and identifies technology solutions to
achieve goals; consults with IT staff and business users to identify, analyze, refine and document business requirements and processes and
develop associated solutions. - Facilitates and leads interviews, focus groups, and workshops to establish current and future business
requirements; coordinates the communication between stakeholders and service owners in order to effectively implement
solutions. - Performs experienced business analyses, including construction of data models, business use cases, process flows and
technical specifications for transition to IT solutions; establishes system requirements through functional and technical assessments of
existing software. - Provides stakeholders with necessary analysis documentation for buy-in, leadership decision, and implementation;
conducts walk-throughs of recommended system functionality and prototypes with business users in small group or large group
settings. - Ensures uniform documentation presentation and content structure including, but not limited to, online
documentation. - Develops test plans and conducts system/integration testing; can test changes, enhancements, and new programs or
functions to ensure they meet business needs.

EDUCATION
Required
- Bachelor’s
degree (preferably in analytic or computer science related field).

- 2 years of business analysis experience working on complex problems and producing concrete, actionable solutions.

Working Conditions /
Demands
This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office
productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus.
