Position Description
The
Automation Specialist makes use of training, technical skills, data domain knowledge, and interpersonal effectiveness to partner with
business process owners and identify areas of process optimization and automation. This position utilizes a range of approaches and
technologies to implement recommended solutions and is responsible for analyzing project outcomes to determine return on investment. Assist
with the development, implementation, testing, analysis, and maintenance of software applications and automation workflows in support of
optimization and efficiency improvements. This position will partner with campus process owners to identify opportunities for optimization
and automation. This position is also responsible for supervising and/or leading the development of new automation projects, directing
changes to existing systems, controlling the interfaces between the systems, initiating complex feasibility studies, and making
recommendations of the action to be taken. The position is also expected to assist senior departmental management in determining the
strategic direction for the area and/or unit and, as such, may interface with key campus leadership. Discretion and sound judgment is
expected.

About the Department and/or College
Data Management for Financial Resources serves as a
central resource focused on analytics, data engineering and management, business process automation, and application development. In
partnership with various administrative departments, DMFR provides support to the campus community through technical expertise, training,
and data analysis.

Major/Essential Functions


  • Design and implement technology solutions which seek to reduce the amount
    of human interaction necessary to support business processes, while maintaining or increasing efficiency and accuracy.
  • Identify
    “best-of-fit” technology for various use cases and implement the necessary infrastructure to support the selected
    technology.
  • Perform robust QA testing to ensure the designed solution meets project requirements and performs as expected under
    normal operating conditions.
  • Monitor the business context and review business processes for opportunities to increase efficiencies
    using automation technologies.
  • Perform benchmark testing to demonstrate value added, such as increased accuracy, reduced human
    intervention, and/or increased efficiency.
  • Serve as primary point of contact with infrastructure support teams to ensure automation
    resources are available when needed.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree with coursework in computer science, data
science, MIS, IT or other related areas plus five years related full-time experience OR a Master’s degree with one year full-time
experience.

Preferred Qualifications


  • Robust experience with Robotics Process Automation development and platforms,
    specifically Blue Prism or UiPath.
  • Experience leading project discussions with stakeholders and development teams. Capable of
    clearly communicating complex requirements and design elements, and translating these into high quality deliverables.
  • Familiarity
    with cloud-based compute and process integration.
  • Familiarity with Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, and Microsoft Fabric data
    platforms.
  • Strong understanding of data governance, security, and management.

Pay Range
$86,800 – $112,900 –
$138,900
