Job Summary
Participate in the Pre-health Summer program from June 8th – July 17th. The Pre-health Summer program is designed to expand opportunities in the healthcare field by supporting high school students in Salt Lake County, Utah, who face economic and educational challenges. Individuals participating in the program will participate in daily course curriculum in math, science and English, attend weekly field trips, participate in a group project focused on social determinants of health, and receive other presentations from current health professionals.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities & Knowledge Skills & Abilities
- Participate in the Pre-health Summer Program from June 8th – July 17th
- Attend the program from 10am – 2:30pm Monday – Friday.
- Attend the program orientation and program Graduation Ceremony.
- Complete all program paperwork.
- Be punctual in class, activities, and program field trips.
- Actively participate in program activities and complete all program coursework.
- Actively participate in the community health project including the final oral presentation.
- Compete the program evaluation at the end of the program.
- Respect the program staff, student peers, guest speakers, and other program participants.
- Attend all program field trips.
- Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of people with a variety of abilities and backgrounds, to maintain good working relationships across the College.
- Ability to work with all groups from a variety of academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds, and with community college students, faculty, and staff, including those with disabilities.
Minimum qualifications
- Rising High School Junior or Senior.
- Interested in pursuing a degree or certificate in the medical or health field.
Preferred Qualifications
- Interested in participating in the Pre-health Summer Program.
- Prior experience in health science or science-related courses.
- Demonstrates personal qualities or strengths of healthcare professionals.
- Demonstrates strong outcomes resulting from program participation.
