Job Summary
The Patient Care Representative works under the general supervision of the Johnson City Center Manager and is responsible for performing a variety of medical front office duties to support daily clinic operations. This role serves as the first point of contact for patients, providing exceptional customer service while facilitating efficient patient flow and ensuring a positive patient experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining flexibility and composure under pressure.
- Ability to take initiative, demonstrate accountability, and work independently in the completion of assigned duties.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively and professionally with patients, providers, supervisors, and colleagues.
- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally via telephone, including handling high call volumes with courtesy and efficiency.
- Knowledge of patient confidentiality standards and ability to handle sensitive information in compliance with applicable privacy regulations.
- Ability to interpret, apply, and adhere to university, college, departmental, and clinic policies and procedures.
- Ability to demonstrate professionalism, maintain a positive attitude, and represent the clinic in a courteous and respectful manner.
- Ability to collaborate effectively as part of a team while contributing to a supportive and patient-centered work environment.
- Ability to remain calm, responsive, and effective in emergency or high-stress situations.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to ensure accuracy in data entry, documentation, and patient information.
- Effective time management and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- Proficiency in basic computer applications and keyboarding, including data entry and electronic systems.
- Knowledge of standard office equipment, including copiers, fax machines, and multi-line telephone systems.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED and two years of office experience
OR - At least one-year post-high school course level work with one year of office experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Similar experience in medical front office (including knowledge of managed care insurance, CPT- and ICD- coding, cashiering, and appointment scheduling)
- Experience with electronic health records
- Experience with practice management software
- Experience with telephone customer service on a multi-line phone system
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: $16.77 per hour
- Job Family: Medical Clinical Associate 1 (MR3)
