Hampshire College offers an excellent benefits package to dining service employees, which is prorated
based on employment cycle and start date.
New dining services employees are immediately eligible for the following paid time off
package:
- Holidays – 12 paid holidays per calendar year, including 3 floating holidays.
- Personal Days – 3 personal days per
fiscal year. - Sick days – 1 sick day accruing per month (Maximum of 130 days)
- Vacation days – 10 paid vacation days per
fiscal year (July 1 – June 30); vacation time will increase with years of service.
Hampshire College also has a winter break that
is fully paid for employees from Christmas Eve to New Year’s each year, typically 6 ½ paid days.

ABOUT US:
Hampshire College, an
independent, innovative liberal arts institution and member of the Five College consortium, is located on a beautiful rural campus in
Amherst, Massachusetts. We provide residential undergraduate education to approximately 800 students. Each department at Hampshire College
contributes to the collaborative culture of the organization and plays an important role in the success of the College. Our dining services
department provides high quality meal services to students, employees, and guests in the form of take-out, dining-in, and catering from
multiple locations on campus. Dining services is a creative, collaborative, and positive work environment. As part of the dining services

DESCRIPTION OF
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The food service worker serves as a contributing member of the dining services team. This position works
in close coordination with other dining services staff and under the supervision of supervisors and the executive chef to prepare, present,
and serve food. The position supports all aspects of dining operations to include set up, cooking, cleaning, and general assistance to other
dining services staff.
As a member of the division or finance and administration, this position may assist with other division and
college projects, events, and special assignments. Seasonally, this position may be assigned to the facilities department to assist with
light duty assignments and tasks as assigned.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
- Must have knowledge of culinary weights and
measures. - Must be able to follow recipes and directions.
- Must have experience with handling knives and commercial kitchen
equipment. - Must be able to bend and twist at the waist.
- Must be able to stand for prolonged periods of time-up to 4
hours. - Must have outstanding customer service skills and a desire to help others.
- The person in this position will need to
work in a wide temperature range. - Passionate about working in an organization that values and promotes diversity, equity, inclusion

- Experience working directly with
people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
PREFERRED SKILLS:
- Prior foodservice
experience
REQUIRED CERTIFICATION, EDUCATION, AND EXPERIENCE:
- High School diploma, GED, or
equivalent. - Minimum of one-year job-related experience.
- Must be Serv-Safe certified.
Alternatives to formal
education and paid work experience may be considered as equivalent qualifications to include military service/training, volunteering,
activism, and other non-traditional programs and experiences related to the position.
