Overview



POSITION:

Assistant Clinical Professor.



This 12-month Assistant Clinical Professor position is in the Department of Special Education, Rehabilitation, and Counseling beginning in August 2026. This faculty member will be hired to coordinate our minor in Counseling and support our Counseling Psychology PhD program with potential to contribute to the Counselor Education masters programs through courses cross-listed with Counseling Psychology. The Department of Special Education, Rehabilitation, and Counseling (SERC) is housed in the College of Education. The Counseling Psychology PhD program is accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA). The Counseling minor trains undergraduate students from numerous majors across campus and is rapidly growing. In addition, the SERC Department houses programs in Counselor Education and Special Education. Information can be found at https://education.auburn.edu/serc/.

Responsibilities


DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

Teach courses in the Counseling Psychology PhD program, with potential opportunities to provide clinical supervision to doctoral students.


Coordinate the undergraduate minor in Counseling, including teaching course(s) for the minor.

Contribute to program and departmental initiatives through service.



Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Earned PhD or PsyD (by start date) in Counseling Psychology from an APA-accredited program at the time of employment.


Evidence of potential to be an excellent graduate and undergraduate instructor.

Evidence of commitment to student engagement and success



Evidence of high competence in clinical practice (e.g., counseling, psychological assessment, clinical supervision).

Evidence of ability to engage in ethical practice in the preparation of psychology and counseling professionals.


Evidence of ability to contribute to program and departmental service.

Candidates must meet eligibility requirements to work in the United States at the time of appointment and continue working legally for the term of employment.


Desired Qualifications:

Administrative experience related to counseling and/or counseling psychology training.


Licensed as a psychologist.

Prior graduate teaching and/or clinical supervision experience.
