Job Summary
The Library Technologist provides service for Library & Tutoring Services Information Desk functions, monitors the learning environment, maintains order and security of the physical collection, supports academic success promotions and events, and collaborates to create tutorial and promotional materials. The Library Technologist troubleshoots and monitors usage of library electronic resources, updates web content, assists with the library’s Open Education endeavors, and supports the library’s engagement with emerging technologies.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Communicate clearly and professionally in English in both verbal and written formats, tailored to diverse audiences and contexts.
- Commitment to equity and success of traditionally underserved populations.
- Computer and software application skills, especially Microsoft Office, and working knowledge of office equipment such as copiers and scanners. Comfortable learning new technologies.
- Ability to work both collaboratively and independently.
- Attention to detail and timely completion of tasks.
- Ability to troubleshoot.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree, or a Library Technical Assistant certificate, or at least an Associate’s degree in a computer field
- 1-3 years experience in customer service
- Experience working or volunteering in a library
- Demonstrated ability to build positive, respectful, collaborative relationships in a civil and inclusive environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in higher education
- Experience maintaining websites, creating tutorials, and editing video files
Physical Demands
- Work is normally performed in a general office environment.
- Work performed requires sensitivity and responsiveness to changing goals, priorities, and needs.
- This position requires light physical activity and movement; employee must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and use standard office equipment, including a computer; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; and hearing and speech to communicate in person, before groups, and over the telephone or during virtual meetings.
- Must possess the ability to sit for extended periods and to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objects up to 25 pounds with the use of proper equipment. Reasonable accommodation will be made for individuals on a case-by-case basis.

Description of Job Duty
- Provide customer service in person and virtually to users for circulation, technology assistance, basic reference questions, and tutoring reception functions.
- Design and create accessible learning materials and users’ guides in digital formats to facilitate technology access and use.
- Assisting users with library technologies, research tools, and information discovery.
- Troubleshooting library software and digital access issues in collaboration with library staff and IT, and monitor usage of electronic resources and web content.
- Monitor and maintain appropriate learning environment.
- Shelve library books and materials.
- Participate in shelf-reading and inventory.
- Assist with promotional activities and events.
- Provide logistical support for workshops, trainings, and meetings for Library & Tutoring Services.
- Provide technology support for Library Services staff, especially for OER and LibGuide maintenance.
