Job Summary

The Office of Tax and Revenue is accepting applications for an Associate Bursar.


This position involves managing staff and overseeing the operational calendar of the Bursar’s office. Responsibilities include counseling students and parents on billing, reconciling accounts, preparing fiscal year-end reports, collecting receivables, managing payment systems, and supervising Assistant Bursar positions. The role also involves handling cash receipts, directing registration fee processes, ensuring compliance with delinquent accounts procedures, and supporting ERP system and collection software changes. Additionally, the position serves as a backup for the Bursar.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities


Knowledge of generally accepted banking, personnel, billing, and collections procedures, and contract law
Knowledge of PCI compliance
Knowledge of accounting principles
Knowledge of proper reconciliation procedures and applicable federal and state laws
Knowledge of personal computers, including Microsoft Office, with an emphasis on Excel
Knowledge of report writer tools for ad hoc reporting and query design, specifically Argos
Ability to communicate effectively
Ability to work in complex Enterprise Resource Planning systems
Ability to provide excellent customer service internally and externally
Ability to exercise good judgment in evaluating situations and making decisions
Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with students and employees

Required Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in accounting or a business related field.
  • Three (3) years of experience in accounts receivable or general ledger accounting.
  • Two (2) years of supervisory experience

An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.

Preferred Qualifications


  • Master’s degree in business or accounting
  • Higher education experience
  • Knowledge of Banner Student, Banner Finance, TouchNet, and Oracle
