SUMMARY

SUNY Brockport is accepting applications for a Registered Nurse. The Registered Nurse (RN) provides
direct nursing care to Brockport students. They will participate in overall office operations by providing backup for the triage nurse or
front desk staff, performing administrative tasks as needed, and assisting with duties to manage clinic flow. This is a full-time, 11-month
position with the month of June off.


JOB FUNCTIONS

Essential Functions:

  • Adheres to
    the legal and ethical standards of New York State and the nursing profession.
  • Provides direct nursing care to patients while
    effectively communicating their needs to nurses and providers, and coordinating follow-up and family communication as
    needed.
  • Performs laboratory procedures and follows up as needed.
  • Evaluates the schedule and clinic flow to ensure efficient
    operations and timely patient care.
  • Participates in overall office operations by providing backup for the triage nurse and front
    desk staff and performs administrative tasks as needed.
  • Serves as a mentor for clinical nursing students, student employees, and
    office assistants while promoting an excellent learning environment.

Non-Essential Functions:


  • Assists in
    the maintenance of pharmaceutical information. Provides input on formulary recommendations.
  • Assists in managing the clinic
    inventory including evaluating the needs and costs of equipment/supplies and follows all applicable purchasing guidelines.
  • Assists
    with immunization entry and reporting, particularly during peak months (June-August and December-January).
  • Shares in weekend
    coverage as needed, including, but not limited to, Graduation and Welcome Weekend.
  • Works collaboratively with Health, Counseling,
    Prevention Services, Residential Life staff, and other campus partners to support student health and wellbeing.
  • Contributes to
    outreach and health promotion efforts and participates in campus community service as requested.


REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Qualifications:


  • Associate’s degree in nursing by the time of appointment from a college or
    university accredited by the U.S. Department of Education or internationally recognized college or university
  • Valid New York State
    license as a Registered Nurse
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Strong work ethic with the ability to make independent
    nursing judgments within scope of practice
  • Collaborative, flexible team player with effective communication skills
  • Maintains an open approach to support inclusive and respectful patient care

Preferred
Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing from a college or university accredited by a U.S. Department of Education or
    internationally recognized accrediting organization
  • Experience in ambulatory setting, emergency room or home care
    setting
  • Minimum of one year of nursing experience

Work
Schedule:

40 hours/week: Monday-Friday, 8 am-5 pm.
