Job Description


The Student Programs Coordinator for STEM tutoring supports the Assistant Director (AD) in the administrative and daily operations of tutoring, both online and in person. The coordinator’s main duty is to assist with the day-to-day operations of the ASC’s STEM-facing services, including scheduling, appointments, and ensuring the successful running of tutoring to include remote, in-person, drop-in, and group tutoring services. The coordinator will lead in creating new services, such as tutoring review sessions in collaboration with ASC staff and faculty partners. In addition, the coordinator will assist with outreach initiatives such as conducting presentations and implementing workshops. The coordinator will supervise student staff, help collect and analyze center usage data, and assist in collecting and auditing time sheets. The coordinator also supports various programs at the ASC, such as Supplemental Instruction (PASS) and CRLA tutor and mentor training, and other programs as needed.

Responsibilities


  • ASC daily management: The coordinator will be responsible for the daily tasks of running the Tutoring Hub including staff management, staff scheduling, monitoring and responding to emails and student requests, auditing student staff timesheets, monitoring tutoring to ensure best practices and ASC policies are observed. Oversight of ASC consists of office coverage and support of the Writing Studio as needed and includes evenings and weekends.
  • Programming, Training, and Presenting: The coordinator will work alongside the AD and Learning Development Facilitator of Online Resources to create training materials, presentations, and training for student staff and employees. They will work alongside the AD to improve programming, services, and resources for student employees, continuing training of student staff through observations and evaluations. The coordinator will also participate in a top-down mentoring program run by the AD, helping to organize mentorship pairs and monitor progress. The coordinator will create and present workshops geared towards STEM courses and content. The coordinator will assist other ASC staff in teaching training courses assigned by ASC and UGS.
  • Appointment management and data collection: The coordinator will record data, create, and assist in managing online appointments through Teams for the Tutoring Hub and PORTAL. The coordinator will help collect usage data and support the ASC in maintaining best practices in learning center management.
  • Represent the ASC at student, staff, and faculty orientation; participate in outreach initiatives hosted by campus partners; attends and serves on campus meetings as deemed appropriate within scope of role and ASC program responsibilities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:


This position requires a Bachelor’s degree, with at least one year of experience in a student affairs or student personnel position; or a Master’s degree in Higher Education, College Student Personnel, or Sports Recreation Administration.

* (e) Nine years of direct experience for a doctoral degree
* Related work experience may not substitute for any required licensure, certification, or registration required for the position of employment as established by the public employer and indicated in the advertised description of the position of employment.
* Minimum Qualifications that require a high school diploma are exempt from SB 1310.



Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in STEM-related field or STEM Education, or a field related to student success
  • Two years supporting college student success
  • Teaching experience in Math or Science
  • Experience supervising student employees
