Project Director, Small Farm Outreach

Functions
- Develops and implement outreach programs and educational resources for socially disadvantaged farmers
and ranchers, veterans’ farmers and ranchers, women and youth in agriculture focusing on sustainable practices, market access, and resource
management - Collaborates with local agricultural organizations, universities, and government agencies to enhance support for small
farms - Conducts needs assessments to identify challenges faced by small farmers and tailor programs accordingly
- Organize and facilitates workshops, training sessions, and field days to educate farmers on best practices and innovative techniques
- Monitors and evaluates program effectiveness, adjusting as necessary to meet the needs of the farming community
- Develops and
distributes informational materials, newsletters, and social media content to engage the farming community - Recruits, trains, and
supervises volunteers and program staff as needed.

Qualifications
Minimum Education Associate degree in business or
equivalent
Minimum Experience Three (3) years’ farm-related experience, education, and training
One (1) year of management
experience
Three (3) years’ providing outreach education in rural communities
Licenses/Certifications
Valid
driver’s license
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
Strong understanding
of sustainable agriculture practices and principles
Familiarity with the challenges and opportunities facing
small farmers and ranchers, women and youth in agriculture , including economic, environmental, and social factors
Knowledge of agricultural extension programing and community outreach methods.
Understanding of local, state, and federal agricultural policies and regulations.
Excellent communication skills, verbal, written, and interpersonal.
Strong organizational and project management
skills
Proficiency in using technology and social media for outreach and education purposes
Ability to analyze data and assess program effectiveness
Ability to work independently
and collaboratively within a team environment
Ability to build and maintain relationships with farmers, ranchers,
veteran farmers and ranchers, women and youth in agriculture , community based organizations, and stakeholders
Flexibility to adapt to changing needs and priorities within the agricultural community
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically about complex
issues.
