Position
Summary:
Hiring Salary Range: $82,106.24 – $90,000.00 Depending on qualifications.
Essential Functions
- Provides legal advice and counsel on a broad range of legal matters, including
but not limited to labor and employment law, contracts, purchasing and procurement, Federal and Florida compliance laws, governance,
administrative law, and higher education law. - Examines College matters and issues to identify and evaluate legal implications,
risks, and potential liabilities; prepares responses and recommendations related to legal and business concerns. - Advises College
leadership and administration on personnel and employee relations matters, including interpretation and application of employment laws,
collective bargaining agreements, policies, and procedures. - Assists with the preparation of responses to audits, compliance reviews,
investigations, and reporting requirements; researches applicable laws and regulations and evaluates their impact on College
operations. - Drafts, reviews, analyzes, and negotiates contracts, agreements, memoranda, reports, proposals, and other legal
documents; provides recommendations to mitigate institutional risk and ensure legal compliance. - Prepares legal memoranda, position
statements, correspondence, and informational materials on behalf of the College. - Assists the General Counsel with legal research,
litigation support, dispute resolution, and other institutional legal matters. - Monitors federal and state legislation, regulations,
and legal developments affecting higher education and College operations; provides guidance and recommendations regarding legislative and
regulatory compliance. - Supports local, state, and federal legislative initiatives and matters impacting the College.
- Assists
in the review and development of College policies and procedures; drafts new and revised policies and procedures to ensure compliance with
changing laws, regulations, and best practices. - Collaborates with College departments and stakeholders to provide proactive legal
guidance and training related to institutional compliance and risk management. - Performs other duties as assigned by the General
Counsel.
Minimum qualifications
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
- Licensed to
practice law and in good standing with the Florida Bar. - At least one year of experience practicing law.
Preferred
Qualifications
- Proficiency with Microsoft technology products and legal research.
- Three or more years of experience
practicing law in one or more of the following areas: education law, labor and employment law, contracts, compliance, or public sector
law. - Law review/legal journal or moot court experience.
- Experience establishing or implementing organizational operational
systems, policies, or procedures.
