Department Description

The Department of Housing and Department of Residence Life are newly-formed Cleveland State University departments previously managed by an outside vendor. This shift to internal departments has been designed to better support our students and enhance the overall residential experience. By building a dedicated team of housing professionals within CSU, the University aims to strengthen services that promote student matriculation, engagement, and long-term success.

These Custodial Worker, Residential positions will support on-campus first year student residences in the newly-renovated Fenn Tower and second year students in Euclid Commons. These buildings are a home-away-from-home for over 1000 students and provide them with the opportunity for personal growth and the traditional on-campus university experience. The schedule is Monday through Friday 7:30am to 4:00pm.

Job Summary

Cleans assigned work area, (e.g., classrooms, general areas, offices, restrooms). Mops, vacuums, scrubs and buffs floors; uses buffers, automatic floor machines, and electric and/or battery operated ultra high-speed floor machines weighing up to 15 pounds to scrub and buff floors. Cleans carpet using extractors, shampooers and other appropriate equipment. Dusts/washes furniture, walls and window sills. Cleans glass partitions. Cleans face bowls, toilets and urinals. Empties trash. Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Completion of High School courses through the tenth grade. No previous experience is required. However, preference may be given to those candidates who can demonstrate successful relevant institutional cleaning experience such as in Universities and hospitals. MUST BE ABLE TO WORK THE SCHEDULED HOURS Monday through Friday 7:30am to 4:00pm
