Job Description

TWO POSITIONS WILL BE FILLED FROM THIS RECRUITMENT
The Financial Aid Counselor provides expert guidance and counseling regarding financial aid processes, requirements, and maintenance of eligibility to prospective and current students, ensuring students are properly funded, packaged, and prepared to start each semester. This position interprets and packages financial aid in accordance with federal, state, and institutional policies and regulations. The Financial Aid Counselor responds to and reviews student requests for modification of their financial aid packages and eligibility evaluation utilizing professional judgment, while ensuring continued compliance with policies and regulations.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Demonstrated ability to research, analyze, interpret, and articulate complex program regulations
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as a team member in a complex processing and public contact environment.

Level and type of experience

  • Considerable experience in a professional setting performing duties related to those described in this position (e.g. student services, compliance, file review)

Additional Considerations (supplemental knowledge, skills, abilities, education, experience, licensure, certification)


  • Working experience within a college financial aid office.
  • Working knowledge of financial aid services and programs.
  • Working experience within a student information system (e.g. Banner, PeopleSoft or a similar program)

Conditions of Employment

The Office of Financial Aid is hoping to fill TWO positions.


There will be some mandatory weekend and evening obligations as needed.

This position is designated as sensitive. A fingerprint-based criminal history check will be required of the final candidate.



This position is considered essential personnel and subject to working during university closings.

Annual Salary/Hourly Rate: Salary range between $ – $40,000 – $50,000
