Job Summary

  • Decontaminates all medical instruments, related equipment, and all labware by using an automated washer/disinfector.
  • Inspects all medical, lab instruments, and related equipment processed by department for form and function to assess acceptability for re-use.
  • Packages items for terminal sterilization based on the method of sterilization to be used.


Qualifications

This position is posted at the Foundational Career Level but may be filled at the Intermediate Career Level depending on the candidate’s qualifications. Although they will be similar, the duties and responsibilities may differ if filled at the lower rank.

Foundational Career Level Requirements:


Combinations of related education and experience may be considered. Education beyond the minimum required may be substituted for work experience. Work experience beyond the minimum required may be substituted for education.


EDUCATION


Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent (such as HSED or GED).


WORK EXPERIENCE


Preferred

  • 9 months of related experience.


SKILLS


Required

  • Maintains a high degree of professionalism.
  • Demonstrates ability to maintain confidential information.

Intermediate Career Level Requirements:

  • Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) upon date of hire.

Working Conditions / Demands


The role regularly requires the ability to effectively communicate. The role frequently requires the ability to move about the work environment and to position oneself to operate laboratory equipment effectively. The role requires the ability to move objects weighing up to 25 pounds and will occasionally work near moving mechanical parts. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.
