Primary Purpose:
Performs functions that
include patient registration, appointment scheduling, insurance verification, referral processing, billing coordination, and patient account
management. Supports clinic operations by coordinating patient flow and assisting with student/resident patient management. Provides
high-quality customer service while ensuring compliance with established quality assurance standards, HIPAA regulations, and NSU policies
and procedures.

Essential Job Functions:
1.
Coordinates patient access operations, including registration, insurance verification, scheduling, and patient flow, while maintaining
accurate demographic, insurance, and account information in electronic systems to ensure compliance and a positive patient experience.
2.
Schedules patient appointments and manages provider schedules to maintain efficient clinic flow and support operational and educational
requirements.
3. Verifies insurance eligibility, processes referrals and authorizations, and ensures required documentation is completed
prior to patient visits.
4. Collects patient payments, explains financial responsibilities, and supports patient account management
including payment plans and account inquiries.
5. Enters, reviews, and updates patient data within electronic medical records and billing
systems to ensure accuracy of patient information and financial transactions.
6. Monitors patient flow and patient queues to assist in
coordinating timely care and efficient use of clinic resources.
7. Responds to patient inquiries and resolves concerns while providing
high-quality customer service in accordance with institutional standards and HIPAA regulations.
8. Communicate effectively with faculty,
students, residents, and administrative staff to coordinate patient scheduling and operational needs.
9. Assists with insurance billing
processes and ensures accurate documentation for third-party insurance and self-pay patients.
10. Performs other duties as assigned to
support clinic operations.
Job Requirements:

1. Proficient knowledge of MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word and Excel).

the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.

Required Certifications/Licensures:
Required Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent
Major (if required:
Required Experience: High School Diploma with a minimum of two (2) years of related experience in customer service,
patient access, medical office, or administrative operations.
- OR-
Associate’s degree with one (1) year of related
experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
1. Experience working in a dental, healthcare, or academic clinical
environment.
2. Experience with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems.
3. Experience with insurance verification and patient billing
processes.
4. Bilingual (Spanish/English or Creole/English) preferred.
