DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW
Join the Residential, Retail and Supply Chain Services (RRSS) team at UC San Diego, a dynamic and innovative campus
department dedicated to delivering exceptional service to the university community. As a valued RRSS team member, you will be contributing
to a broad and complex organization consisting of five key units: Housing, Dining and Hospitality (HDH), Integrated Procure-to-Pay Solutions
(IPPS), the UC San Diego Bookstore, Triton Print & Digital Media, and the Early Childhood Education Center (ECEC). With a focus on
innovation and customer satisfaction, RRSS aims to inclusively meet the diverse needs of the UC San Diego community while fostering a sense
of belonging for our students and staff.
POSITION OVERVIEW
Under supervision, performs unskilled manual
and operational tasks for College Residences /Dining Halls facilities, meeting rooms, study rooms, laundry facilities, offices, lounge
areas, hallways, stairs, property signage, trash/recycle chutes and rooms, bathrooms, kitchens, suites, and landings, interior/exterior
common areas, and HDH grounds and walkways. Will assist Building Maintenance Workers as needed. Safely operates and drives trucks with
lifts, box trucks, and various other university vehicles. Responsible for safeguarding assigned area’s keys and care/operation of custodial
supplies and equipment. Will respond to routine and emergency work requests from supervisor, staff, maintenance, Customer Service Center,
and police department as needed. Will provide customer service to student residents and guests as needed. Work location is Dining
Halls/student residence. Positive interaction with staff, residents, and guests is required.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Demonstrated ability to operate large box trucks, closed vans, golf carts, and other university
vehicles. - Experience working in an environment that requires heavy lifting and manual labor. Knowledge of power and manual
tools. - Knowledge and experience of general custodial duties and ability to operate custodial equipment.
- Knowledge and
ability to use cleaning chemicals safely and appropriately. - Ability to maintain acceptable work habits, punctuality, and regularity
of attendance. - Ability to work positively and effectively alone or in a team environment.
- Ability to build and maintain
customer relationships through a professional approach in handling customer service needs and resolving problems efficiently. Ability to
work effectively in a service oriented environment. - Ability to determine when repairs are necessary and inform
supervisor - Demonstrated ability to positively & effectively communicate and interact with a diverse population of co-workers,
residents, guests, and the University community. - Ability to successfully work in a high volume environment with constantly changing
priorities. Ability to work in a consensus building team environment. - Ability to accurately follow oral and written instructions.
Ability to follow through and carry out assignments and meet deadlines. - Ability to problem-solve and exercise sound judgment in
order to communicate and respond quickly to emergency situations with tact and diplomacy.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS
- Will be required to work alternate work hours and shifts.
- May be required to work overtime by supervisor with
little or no advanced notice. - Background check required.
- Required to hold valid driver’s license, have a driving record that
is in accordance with local policies/procedures, and/or enroll in the California Employer Pull Notice Program.
Mandated Reporter:
This position has been identified as a Mandated Reporter pursuant to the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and requires
immediate reporting of physical abuse, sexual abuse, emotional abuse, or neglect of anyone under the age of 18. It is the responsibility of
the Mandated Reporter to ensure that they obtain proper training in order to fulfill their reporting responsibilities as required by the
California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and University policy, and to complete and submit the required reports to the UC San Diego
Police Department without delay.
Pay Transparency Act
Annual Full Pay Range: $43,952 – $56,856 (will be prorated if
the appointment percentage is less than 100%)
Hourly Equivalent: $21.05 – $27.23
Factors in determining the appropriate
compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and
organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University
reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this
position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
