*This is a 2-year contract position that is estimated to be a 2-year
assignment. * The full salary range for the Employment Practices Risk Consultant is $68,500.00 – $121,900.00 annually. However, the expected
pay scale for this position is up to $95,200.00 annually. We base salary offers on a variety of considerations, such as education, licensure
and certifications, experience, and other business and organizational needs. The Employment Practices Risk Consultant provides guidance
across human resources strategy, employment law compliance, and Employment Practices Liability (EPL) Insurance risk mitigation to help
organizations reduce liability exposure and build a positive, compliant workplace culture. This role aligns policies and practices with
business objectives, audits claims, identifies and coordinates training, supports EPL claims and corrective actions. Applicants must have
current work authorization when accepting a UCR staff position. Currently, we are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an
employment Visa for staff. As a University employee, you will be required to comply with all applicable University policies and/or
collective bargaining agreements, as may be amended from time to time. Federal, state, or local government directives may impose additional
requirements.

Education Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in related area
and/or equivalent experience/training. - Master’s degree in Employment Law, Business Administration, or Human Resources and/or
equivalent experience/training.
Experience
- 4 – 7 years of related experience.

Proven interpersonal skills, customer service orientation, active listening skills, and organizational skills.
Thorough knowledge in the following areas: risk management; insurance; forecasting and analysis; accounting; knowledge of common
organization-specific computer application programs; knowledge of organizational processes and procedures; understanding of organization
rules and regulations. Proven ability to use critical thinking and analytical skills to solve problems. Strong skills required to develop
course materials and deliver content effectively to diverse populations. Proven ability to concisely present complex risk findings and make
recommendations verbally and in writing. Extensive knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office Suite – Excel, charts, graphs, analytical
tools, project management tools, PowerPoint Deep knowledge of California employment laws and HR best practices; practical, business-oriented
problem solving. Strong knowledge of EPLI policies, coverage, and claims processes. Proactive mindset; ability to manage multiple
engagements independently while fostering a positive workplace culture.

Responsibilities
- Performs complex accounting and risk finance related to the monitoring of risk control strategies and
programs. Implements risk control programs and strategies to prevent losses and reduce insurance premiums. - Risk Assessment &
Prevention: Identify training needs and coordinate training efforts on employment law, anti-harassment, anti-discrimination, diversity &
inclusion, workplace conduct, and policy implementation. Develop proactive initiatives and communication plans to reduce liability exposure
and foster an inclusive, compliant workplace. Conduct audits of activities and practices as they pertain to EPL Claims to identify
opportunities for full compliance with federal, state, and University regulations. - Implements and monitors control strategies and
programs involving claim payments. Assesses deductibles, pursues subrogation opportunities, and recommends cost allocation strategies to
improve program effectiveness. - Project Management: Coordinate corrective action planning efforts, establish milestones, goals and
completion. Expand lessons learned and root cause analysis to campus wide initiatives for employment practices improvement. Serve as the
Administrative Support for UCR EPIC (Employment Practices Improvement Committee). Create roadmap for a sustainable program of continuous ELP
liability reduction. - Gathers, analyzes, prepares, and summarizes areas of potential loss; recommends appropriate type and level
of loss protection to be implemented. - Metrics & Reporting: Analyze metrics and report employment practices trends to inform
leadership decisions and continuous improvement. Analyze financial data to identify and recommend cost reduction strategies. Establish
benchmarking data from the UC system and other higher education institutions to determine best practices and establish goals. - Policy Development: Provide recommendations for and assist in the development, customization, and implementation of policies,
procedures, employee handbooks, employment agreements, and related forms. Assist with updating policies in accordance with evolving laws and
regulations.
