High School diploma or equivalency and demonstrated possession
of the competencies necessary to perform the work. Requires certification as a Division of Criminal Information computer operator or the
ability to achieve certification within 45 days of employment. Some positions may require Basic Telecommunicator Certification in accordance
with the provisions of the North Carolina Criminal Justice Training and Standards Commission or the ability to achieve certification within
one year of employment.
Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education
- Two years of experience
working in a communication or call center environment. - Knowledge of methods for operating communications systems. Knowledge of
procedures used for emergency medical treatment. - Knowledge of information required for documenting emergency situations and
calls. - Knowledge of emergency medical, fire, police, and other emergency terminology.
- Knowledge of emergency management
procedures. - Knowledge of the geography and street locations of the community served.
- Ability to provide clear instructions
and guidance to callers in emergency situations. - Ability to comprehend, interpret, and evaluate relevant information from various
types of source materials. - Ability to obtain and analyze facts to reach logical conclusions.
- Ability to obtain information
from physically or emotionally distressed individuals. - Ability to interact with people who are in differing situations.

Primary Purpose of Position
* This is a pool posting
for three positions. You will only need to apply for once. Other position included is 004362 and 009277. *
To operate
the Telecommunications Center efficiently and effectively 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. This consists of operating all communications
equipment and maintaining contact with all field units and other agencies through direct phone lines. This includes responding to all
elevator phone lines and all emergency call-box phone lines that ring directly into the communications center. The Division of Criminal
Information Network provides other emergency communications state and nationwide.
Primary Function of Organizational
Unit
To provide an effective and efficient link between the University Community and the University Police Department’s
operations and services 24 hours a day, 365 days per year. The University Police Department maintains overall responsibility for this
service.
The University Police Department maintains the responsibility of providing a safe and secure community for the students,
faculty, staff and visitors. University Police Officers are sworn full-time police officers who are state certified by the North Carolina
Criminal Justice Training and Standards Council and must receive Basic Law Enforcement Training before being sworn as Police Officers. NC
A&T State University Police Officers have complete police authority to enforce local, state and federal laws on all property owned or leased
by the University and on streets that run through, are adjacent to, or border the campus.
Work Hours
Twelve hour
shifts (7:00 am-7:00 pm; 7:00 pm-7:00 am)

university and state policies.

Duties
- Monitors all CCTV cameras and alarms.
- Monitors and dispatches fire, burglar,
equipment and panic alarms to appropriate departments and personnel accordingly. - Reports any trouble with CCTV and alarm systems
immediately. - Operates the Division of Criminal Information automated computer network and all affiliated state and computer systems
as necessary. - Ensures confidentiality is maintained as these records contain highly confidential information.

Duties
- Operates police emergency multi-frequency radio console
(Orbacom Candida) and multi- line telephones. - Determines the nature of the call and may transfer caller to appropriate responder
upon determining the nature of the call. - Obtains, verifies, and records the location of the emergency, the name of the caller, the
nature, severity, and current status of the emergency, and obtains any other appropriate information needed to secure a full assessment of
the circumstances. - Maintains a reassuring and calming manner with callers in order to obtain required information; persuades
emergency callers to stay on the line. - In nonmedical emergencies, provides precautionary instructions and advice to help assure the
personal safety of persons and/or to minimize the loss of property, pending the arrival of fire, police, or other assistance. - Dispatch and receive calls for service to and from the University Police Officers, Security, Parking and Contract Security Officers and
any other collateral agency personnel as necessary. - Contact the following persons in emergency situations when needed: Chief of
Police, VC of Business and Finance, VC of Student Affairs, Office of EHS, Greensboro Police Department, Guilford County Sheriff’s Department
and Greensboro Fire Department. - Maintains emergency callback for the University; entails calls to EHS, maintenance requests for the
academic buildings, as well as the University Residence Halls. - Makes contact through provided weekly callback lists, cell numbers
and pagers with direct contact through the Physical Plant radio frequency. - Train department personnel in communications as
assigned. - Attend and successfully complete all required certifications and departmental in-service training and attend required
departmental meetings.
