Job Description:

The Department of Engineering Science and Technology is pleased to invite OSHA certified instructors to apply to teach our “General Industry” Outreaching Training course. Instructors will teach a seven-week course that will meet once weekly for 110 minutes. Students successfully completing this course will be eligible for an OSHA-10 General Industry Safety and Health card.



The successful candidate will:

  • Prepare and present lectures and course materials that comply with course outlines and outcomes;
  • Meet with students as needed to answer questions;
  • Respond to student queries (e.g. email or voice mail) as needed, in a reasonably timely manner;
  • Write, administer, and grade all student assignments and exams;
  • Compute grades and submit them on time.
  • Teach courses in accordance with the schedule of classes and follow the approved course descriptions and syllabi established by the department faculty

Job Requirements:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:


  • OSHA Instructor Certification for 10-hour General Industry Training and
  • High school diploma and a minimum of five years’ work experience in a technology field such as electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, pneumatics, robotics, soldering and electronic assembly, electrical test & measurement, mechanical assembly techniques, motors & controllers, sensors & machine vision, and industrial control systems.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Background in teaching college level courses;
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite of products (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint);
  • Demonstrated connections with local industry;
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish. English and another language will be considered.

Additional Information:


  • Adjunct rate of pay for the 26/27 academic year is $1,527/credit hour. Classes will be assigned on an as needed basis dependent upon enrollment.
  • Adjuncts are eligible to participate in the NYS Teacher’s Retirement System.
