$49,942 – $61,678; commensurate with experience

Job Summary/Basic Function


Under direction from the Fire and Life Safety Specialist, perform detailed/technical field inspections of campus facilities, special events, and off campus properties for compliance with applicable laws, codes, regulations, standards, and contract documents. Conduct fire safety inspections of new and existing structures and properties for construction, occupancy, fire protection, and exposures. Advise the Fire and Life Safety Specialist of the results of inspections or testing that may impact campus operations. Includes preparation of correspondence/inspection reports; investigate, document and resolve complaints, and maintain reports and files. Responds to emergency and other required callbacks to campus after normal business hours and on weekends as assigned.

Required Education


High School diploma or High School Equivalency (HSE) and a minimum of 30 semester hours of college coursework.

Required Related Experience


Two years directly related experience in fire inspection or fire prevention work required.

Note: A four year college degree may be considered in lieu of the two years experience requirement.


Required License/Registration/Certification

Valid Tennessee Drivers License required.


Desirable License/Registration/Certification

Certification as a Fire Inspector recognized by the Tennessee State Fire Marshal preferred.
