Posting Summary

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Business Manager for the Office of Business and Finance within the School of Public Health, located in Piscataway, NJ.
Under the direction of the Associate Dean for Finance & Administration, manages the fiscal activities for the School of Public Health including implementing fiscal and administrative policy and procedures and managing the day-to-day fiscal activities

Duties include:

  • Prepares annual budget (all funds) for the School of Public Health (SPH), provides updates, projections, and ongoing analyses and all other related schedules as required by the University Budget Office.
  • Manages financial planning, analysis, and administration of all SPH funds. Reviews, approves and controls all School salary and non-salary expenditures (grant and operating) on a daily basis. Ensures expenses are properly coded and charged to the correct funds and in compliance with Rutgers or other agency policy.
  • Ensures that all cost efficiencies are attained by closely monitoring department fiscal and administrative operations and procedures.
  • Manages all revenue resources including tuition income, continuing education fees, service fees, and grants and contracts.  This also includes oversight of inter-School collaborative and articulated agreements and the exchange of funds relating to cross registration, tuition sharing and tuition exemptions

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance plus five (5) years of progressively more responsible experience in managing fiscal activities including budget development and review, financial statement preparation, and grant application preparation, of which three (3) years’ experience shall have been in Grants and Contracts administration with a variety of funding agencies. 
  • Two (2) years of supervisory/management
  • Computer requirements: Proficient in Microsoft Office including Excel, PowerPoint and Word. Oracle Cloud and PeopleSoft experience
  • Outstanding human relations and leadership skills, and the ability to function in a team environment
