Job Summary
The Clinical Educator RN carries out a plan of educational activities to enhance, promote, and maintain the standard of care within the hospital.


Major Responsibilities/Duties/Critical Tasks

  • Maintains established standards of practice, implements professional development educational training for professional growth, and coordinates continuous comprehensive educational activities and research for employees.

  • Develops and provides educational programs to improve critical thinking and professional skills of the staff at the bedside and in the management arenas.

  • Assesses and identifies learning needs, plans and implements appropriate interventions, and evaluates the effectiveness of actions.

  • Utilizes the values and principles of UT Health East Texas to develop unit-based educational activities and evaluates the effectiveness of these activities on an ongoing basis by assessing changes in clinical performance and improved customer satisfaction.

  • Implements financial accountability for ongoing unit-based educational activities and evaluates outcomes based on learner feedback and budgetary guidelines.

Required Qualifications


  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing – BSN required
  • Current Texas License as a Registered Nurse
  • BLS from AHA

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in nursing
  • Prefer minimum of two years of management/teaching experience
  • Familiarity with the organization and functions of other disciplines within the hospital
  • Minimum of five years of Acute Care clinical experience

The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
