Job Summary
The Programmer Analyst I primary responsibility is to support key modules of the Banner
Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) platform at the University while working in collaboration with the Banner Team.
The role involves working closely with functional staff in administrative offices to understand business needs and help execute solutions,
build strong working relationships, and provide personalized guidance and support. The Programmer Analyst will support ERP business process efficiencies at the University by developing and troubleshooting reports, queries, and scripts.
This position will build expertise with Banner and its data structures through cross-training with Program Analysts and reporting directly
to the Banner Manager.
Core Duties
- Collaborate with departmental Banner users and University stakeholders to
identify projects for system or organizational improvement to improve efficiency, add new capabilities, improve security, and/or cut
expenses. - Analyze functional and technical requirements related to Banner modules, ensuring accuracy, standards, and integrity of
all data being added, changed and/or deleted. Utilize the ticketing system for production changes with the help of Database Administrator
(DBA). - Develop and maintain SQL and PL/SQL scripts to
support Banner processes - Design and generate reports using Argos.
- Document processes to support in the cross training of
Programmer Analyst. - Recognize critical or time-sensitive tasks and work with the Banner Manager and functional partners to provide
business continuity within agreed timeframe and scope. - As directed by the Banner Manager and the Director of Web and Enterprise
Services, contribute key project deliverables in enterprise projects. - Provide high quality support for Banner modules and assist
customers with troubleshooting issues related to Banner modules, scripts and queries. - Support departmental data leads to test,
deploy, and troubleshoot new solutions and features within enterprise systems. Facilitate communications to support the flow and access to
accurate data processes. - As part of a coordinated team, monitor the health and performance of large relational databases, design
queries to support project and task work, and troubleshoot issues. - Identify and propose potential projects for systems or
organizational improvements to improve efficiency, add new capabilities, improve security, or cut expenses. - Execute successful
project deliverables as driven by the Banner Manager and Director of Web and Enterprise Services. - Work directly with the underlying
Oracle database components of Banner, including tables, forms, and views to support business offices with existing and new processes through
crafting, testing, and deploying scripts in PowerShell and/or Linux. - Support the end-user offices to ensure a high degree of
customer service with accuracy, privacy, and security of their administrative information. - Build effective collaborative
relationships within the Programmer Analyst team and among University departments to strengthen technical outputs and data management
throughout the University.

Education & Experience
- Required: Bachelors degree; preferably in
computer science or data disciplines. - Required: 1 to 3 years professional experience within a technical role with strong database
querying skills, specifically using Oracle PL/SQL. - Preferred: Experience supporting a Finance/Accounting
Team and translating business requirements into technical solutions, ideally within a higher education institution. - Preferred:
Experience with Ellucian Banner. - Or a combination of equivalent education and/or experience.

- Technical knowledge of systems and concepts
underlying enterprise application environments, including:- Linux, Windows Server, Tomcat, Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, PL/SQL, T-SQL, and command line interfaces such as
PowerShell - Relational database concepts and practices in an enterprise environment
- Common network protocols and standards
used in web-based enterprise applications and integrations, such as HTTP/HTTPS, FTP/FTPS, SOAP/REST, etc.
