Job Summary

The University Memorial Center at the University of Colorado, Boulder
is seeking applications for a Custodian! This role is responsible for weekly deep cleaning, seasonal
cleaning projects of the UMC, as well as emergency clean-up in accordance with University guidelines. They will work on one of two teams and
receives assignments and instructions from the Custodial Services Manager or Custodial Services Lead.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be


Daily Cleaning of UMC
Public Areas, Department Offices and Study Spaces

  • Responsible for the daily cleaning and sanitizing of all public areas,
    including but not limited to lounges, study coves, foyers, break rooms, entryways, hallways, and stairways.
  • Daily cleaning tasks
    include sweeping, mopping of all hard surfaces (tile and wood flooring), and vacuuming of carpets.
  • Additionally, daily cleaning
    includes emptying of waste receptacles, wiping down of counters, tables, chairs and all high touch point areas.
  • Dusting and windows
    along with other glass surfaces as needed.

Daily Bathroom Cleaning:


  • Adhere to daily cleaning protocols to clean
    assigned bathrooms on a routine basis.
  • This cleaning includes cleaning and sanitizing of bathroom fixtures (toilets, urinals,
    sinks), sweeping and mopping of the floors.
  • Wiping down of stalls, walls, dispensers, and mirror cleaning.
  • The restocking
    of the various dispensers with the appropriate products and the emptying of the waste receptacles.

Seasonal Projects:

  • Position is responsible seasonal projects including stripping and refinishing tile floors, shampooing carpets, deep cleaning office
    spaces that include vent-cleaning, wall wipe down, upholstery cleaning of office furniture, window cleaning, and additional projects as
    assigned.

Other Duties as Assigned:


  • Position is responsible for responding on an as-needed basis for snow removal,
    specialty, or emergency work, which could include; clean-up of water or debris, moving and assisting in moving furniture, emergency clean
    up, deep-water extraction, and disinfection process.
  • Position is responsible for the snow removal of specific assigned areas on the
    outside of the UMC including sidewalks, patios, and ramps. This includes initial snow removal and applying of deicer (ice melt) and the
    removal of the snow throughout the day to ensure areas are open and safe.
  • When needed assist UMC Maintenance or UMC Set-up
    Operations.

What You Should Know

  • The anticipated shift schedule for this position is Sunday through
    Thursday, from 12:30pm – 9:00pm.
  • Shift Differential Available:
    • Second shift differential is 7.5% (Shall be paid for all
      hours worked when half or more of the scheduled work hours fall between 4pm and 11pm, Monday through Thursday).
    • Third shift
      differential is 14% (Shall be paid for all hours worked when half or more of the scheduled work hours fall between 11pm – 6am, Monday
      through Friday).
    • Weekend shift-differential is 20% (Shall be paid for all hours worked when half or more of the scheduled work hours
      fall between 4pm – 6am, Friday through Monday).
    • If hours are evenly split between shifts, the higher shift differential rate applies
      to all hours worked during the shift.
