Assistant Athletic Trainer, Intercollegiate Athletics – UT Chattanooga (8979)

The Assistant Athletic Trainer will be the primary athletic trainer for Women’s Basketball, which
includes attending conditioning & practices and traveling for competitions. The Athletic Trainer also coordinates athletic training services
for Men’s Golf but will not attend practices or travel for competitions.

Responsibilities

• Performs
  evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation for assigned student-athletes
• Ensures maintenance of confidential documentation and record
  keeping of injury reports and progress notes
• Ensures effective communication with student athletes, coaches, medical professionals,
  and academic advisors
• Organizes and monitors the maintenance of all medical records, keeping each file up to date to facilitate
  insurance billing and payments by insuring proper documentation for any future medical or legal claims
• Organizes and directs all
  preseason physicals with physicians and coordinates medical clearance and eligibility for practice and competition
• Facilitates
  concussion testing for student athletes and other safety protocols
• Manages and maintains the athletic training room, and equipment
  including supplies and inventory
• Complies with policies and rules of UTC, the Southern Conference, and the NCAA related to medical
  care for student-athletes
• Provides oversight for recruitment, hiring, and supervision of athletic training staff
• Organizes
  First Aid and CPR training for staff and coaches
• Maintains a safe and professional environment for student athletes and department
  staff

The ideal candidate will possess the following

• Effective communication and interpersonal
  skills
• Experience with Basketball at NCAA Division I level
• Experience with Web based Injury Tracking
  System

Qualifications

Required

• Bachelor’s Degree
• Certification by the National
  Athletic Trainer’s Association Board of Certification (NATABOC)
• Active membership in the National Athletic Trainer’s Association
  (NATA)
• First Aid and CPR certification
• State of Tennessee athletic training license or eligible for such
• Minimum
  two years of recent collegiate athletic training experience

Preferred

• Master’s degree in athletic training
  or related field
• 1-2 years’ experience as a certified athletic trainer
