Primary Function of Organizational Unit

The NCCU
Police Department provides law enforcement, security, and safety services to the university community. The Safety Systems & Compliance
Division supports operational functions including parking services, security technologies, Clery compliance, and other safety infrastructure
that contributes to campus safety and operational efficiency.



Parking Services ensures compliance with university parking
regulations, supports traffic management, administers parking permits, and assists with special event parking operations across
campus.

Primary Purpose of Position


The Parking Enforcement Officer is responsible for
enforcing university parking regulations, monitoring campus parking facilities, issuing citations for violations, and assisting with traffic
and parking control during special events and campus operations.

This position helps ensure the safe and efficient use of university
parking resources while providing courteous customer service to students, employees, and visitors. The Parking Enforcement Officer works
under the supervision of the Assistant Director of Public Safety for Safety Systems & Compliance and collaborates closely with other members
of the NCCU Police Department.



Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of parking enforcement practices and traffic control procedures.
  • Ability to interpret and apply university parking
    regulations and policies.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather
    conditions.
  • Ability to walk or patrol campus for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and
    reports.
  • Ability to interact professionally with students, employees, and visitors.

Minimum
Education/Experience



High School diploma or equivalency and demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to
perform the work.
Some positions may require valid N.C. driver’s license.

Duties

  • Patrol campus parking lots, decks, and designated parking areas to ensure compliance
    with university parking regulations.
  • Issue parking citations for violations including unauthorized parking, expired permits, and
    parking in restricted spaces.
  • Monitor accessible parking areas, reserved spaces, and restricted zones to ensure appropriate
    use.
  • Document violations and enforcement actions using the university parking management system.

  • Provide courteous assistance and
    information to students, faculty, staff, and visitors regarding parking regulations and campus directions.
  • Explain parking policies
    and procedures and assist individuals with general parking questions.
  • Serve as a professional representative of the NCCU Police Department during daily interactions with the campus community.
  • Maintain accurate records of
    citations, warnings, and enforcement activities.
  • Report parking issues, damaged signage, or safety hazards to supervisors.
  • Assist with data collection and reporting related to parking enforcement activities.

  • Assist with traffic direction and parking control during
    special events, move-in/move-out periods, and major campus activities.
  • Support temporary parking closures, event parking setups,
    and traffic flow adjustments when necessary.
