Position Information



The CHASS Building and Facilities Lead provides operation support to
the members of the College of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences (CHASS) community. The incumbent ensures the proper maintenance of
classrooms, buildings, and common areas; liaise with various facilities management units on campus to initiate and execute projects; submits
trouble calls & FSRs to address building issues both as they are reported as well as when they are observed; assists with the inspection of
all CHASS occupied building to identify problem areas and follows up to ensure all items are addressed in a timely manner; and assists with
routine maintenance requests to mitigate the number of problems that may occur. In addition, the CHASS Building and Facilities Lead is
responsible for the management and upkeep of access to space and distributing keys. The CHASS Building and Facilities Lead, in collaboration
with other CHASS units, assists with special projects for CHASS including office moves, ergonomics ordering, and other operational and
maintenance requests as needed. The full salary range for the CHASS Building and Facilities Lead is $78,428.97 – $114,668.40 annually. We
base salary offers on a variety of considerations, such as education, licensure and certifications, experience, and other business and
organizational needs. Applicants must have current work authorization when accepting a UCR staff position. Currently, we are unable to
sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa for staff. As a University employee, you will be required to comply with all
applicable University policies and/or collective bargaining agreements, as may be amended from time to time. Federal, state, or local
government directives may impose additional requirements.

dispatch, building maintenance, safety and emergency preparedness. Superior interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to make
connections and work creatively and collaboratively with a diverse group of students, faculty, staff, administrators, and university
personnel. Thorough interpersonal skills including good service orientation and effective problem solving. Thorough and effective skills to
multitask and prioritize daily activities effectively. Highly organized with acute attention to details. Ability to work on multiple project
simultaneously with frequent interruption Advanced written and oral communication skills. Ability to present and deliver information in a
manner that is appropriate for the needs of the audience. Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills to think creatively to solve

and to discern when action of a higher level if required. Ability to independently follow-through on assignments Solid knowledge in
supervising facility maintenance and improvements along with building maintenance work to include one or more of the following: basic
plumbing and pipefitting, carpentry, painting and plastering, service of machinery, electrical maintenance and custodial. Demonstrated
interpersonal skills, including active listening, critical thinking, ability to multi-task effectively, persuasion/negotiation, mentoring,
leadership/supervision, problem solving, operations analysis and quality control analysis.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identifies problems and develops solutions, such as
    allocation of resources or changing project scope. Manages multiple projects on behalf of multiple facilities which may be administrative,
    specialty research labs, or teaching labs. Oversees the logistics coordination for offices, classrooms, lab space. Oversees assistance and
    set-up for conferences, meetings and works with vendors.

  • Recommends facilities-related procedures and solutions, taking into
    account budgets, space allocation, staffing and infrastructure design

  • Maintains building related plans and procedures including
    access controls and security, emergency preparedness, commonly-encountered hazardous materials storage and disposal, crime prevention
    activities, fire safety inspection compliance and reporting

  • 10%

  • Assists department leadership with budget development for moves and
    minor building infrastructure upgrades. This includes assistance with long-term planning and forecasting.

  • Serve as the primary
    Safety Officer for the college providing direction to minimize risk. Acts as liaison with campus Environmental Health and Safety, Risk
    Management, Physical Plant, and Police in matters related to College security and safety. Monitors reported College injuries, safety and
    security issues. Provide implementation of safety procedures using policies provided by Environmental Health and Safety.

  • Develops
    and implements regular security and maintenance schedules and inspections.

  • Manage Facility Management System (FMS) to include
    coordination with departments on appropriate use of space and categorization. Additionally manage 25 Live, the campus space scheduling
    system, to include appropriate access to space by campus partners.

  • Liaise with Departments and Central Facilities on emergency
    repairs during and after work hours.

  • Coordinates and communicates with departments, work crew activities to minimize disruption to
    building occupants

  • Establishes fee structures and authorizes the collection and disbursement of user fees in accordance with
    applicable University policies. Prepares facilities, equipment and event-specific budgets and estimates for CFM and other CHASS departments.
    Assists in the development of immediate and long-range facilities & equipment budget projections. Establishes scheduling priorities and
    procedure for addressing facilities issues in collaboration with CHASS department FAO/MSO. Negotiates space and facilities issues among
    disputing or competing interests using tact and diplomacy and by assisting in the development of alternative schedules and prioritization of
    programs. Develops and maintain strong relationships with the departments and their faculty and administrators, Physical Plant, Media
    Resources, Design and Construction, Cultural Events, Environmental Health and Safety, UC Police, Events Management, and the office of the
    Dean to represent the facilities, staffing, and equipment needs of the College.
