Description

Governors State University is seeking to hire an Extra-Help
Early Childcare Education Substitute Teacher to support classroom teachers in maintaining required ratios and implementing daily classroom
activities and routines. The position provides a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate environment for children ages 0-5 years
old while adhering to DCFS, Early Head Start (EHS), Preschool for All Expansion (PFAE) Prevention Initiative (PI), and NAEYC accreditation
standards.

Essential Responsibilities

• Implement an age-appropriate, success-oriented,
  developmentally appropriate center-based program using the designated curricula.
• Integrate all aspects of Early Head Start
  Performance Standards, Illinois DCFS day care regulations, and NAEYC accreditation standards into the schedule and curriculum for each
  child.
• Use active supervision to assure that all children are supervised within sight and sound at all times.
• Maintain
  awareness of allergies and medical conditions. Administer medication as trained.
• Eat with and assist children in the development of
  social and self-help skills and sound nutritional practice using Family Style Meal practices..
• Work as a collaborative team to
  design an environment and activities designed to meet the health, safety, and educational needs of assigned children.
• Follow and
  maintain daily routine and schedule and maintain classroom management.
• Provide responsive caregiving, assist with feeding and
  diapering, and self-help skills, such as handwashing, toileting, toothbrushing, and hygiene practices as appropriate per age
  group.

Required and Preferred Qualifications

1. At least 19 years of age
2. High school
   diploma or transcripts (must provide an official copy)
3. DCFS Teacher Qualified (60 hours of college with at least 6 hours of ECE
   credits.)
4. Must have a Gateways Early Childhood Level 1 Credential or working toward it.
