Job Summary
Perform custodial work required in the routine cleaning and upkeep of all designated spaces. Duties & Responsibilities
- Keeps floors free of dirt and debris by regularly scheduled sweeping, mopping and vacuuming
- Cleans, disinfects, sanitizes and services restroom facilities and fixtures and replenishes supplies
- Empties authorized waste/recycle containers
- Cleans chalkboards/whiteboards including trays
- Cleans and dusts furniture, tables and other flat surfaces as directed
- Locks and unlocks doors to buildings, classrooms, lecture rooms, or offices
- Removes snow and ice from building entrances/steps, etc. seasonally as required and is the priority during inclement winter weather
- Reports items that need repair
- Monitors and/or notifies supervisor of needed supplies
- Operates variety of maintenance and cleaning equipment including: vacuums, extractors, buffers, as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions
Work Environment:
- May be exposed to chemicals, heat, cold, dust, fumes, noise, and inclement weather.
- Can require the ability to multitask on given assignments.
- Certain assignments can be stressful at times.

Minimum Qualifications
1. High school diploma or equivalent.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge and ability to accept and carry out written / verbal instructions and a willingness to perform the assigned work
- Thorough understanding of University and F&S policies
Appointment Information
This is a 100% full-time Civil Service 4502 – Building Service Worker position, appointed on a 12-month basis.
Work Schedule: First 4 weeks will be training on deep night shift from 11:00 PM – 7:00 AM starting Sunday evenings at 11:00 PM (must be able to do this) and then will move permanently to afternoon shift schedule of Monday – Friday from 3:00 – 11:30 PM. The hourly rate of pay for the classification $21.15. This position is not eligible for any type of sponsorship for work authorization.
