Job Description Summary


Eastern Oregon University (EOU) seeks nominations, applications, and expressions of interest for the position of Healthcare Programs Coordinator. The position is a full-time, 12-month, shared position and reports directly to the Executive Director of Enrollment Management.

The Academic Advisor/Healthcare Programs Coordinator provides comprehensive academic advising that supports student success, retention, and timely degree completion for both on-campus and online students. The position serves assigned academic disciplines, with primary responsibility for advising students in Science, Technology, Mathematics, and Health Sciences (STMHS) programs, including pre-professional healthcare pathways.



The incumbent serves as a liaison between Eastern Oregon University and graduate health professional programs, coordinates pre-professional healthcare initiatives, develops advising resources and student opportunities, and collaborates with faculty, staff, and community partners to enhance student success and enrollment goals.

Responsibilities


  • Provide comprehensive academic advising for an assigned caseload of on-campus and online students, including first-time, transfer, and continuing students.
  • Guide students regarding degree requirements, academic policies, educational opportunities, career planning, academic progress, and available campus resources.
  • Monitor student progress toward degree completion and implement interventions, referrals, and support strategies to improve student success, retention, and graduation outcomes.
  • Coordinate with faculty advising mentors, university departments, and student support services to address student needs and academic concerns.
  • Develop and implement advising procedures, conduct workshops, trainings, orientation, and outreach activities, and assist students through registration and re-enrollment processes.
  • Maintain accurate advising records and student plans using university information systems, prepare reports, and serve as a subject matter expert for assigned academic programs.
  • Coordinate advising for pre-professional healthcare programs by developing academic plans, communicating application requirements and timelines, maintaining advising materials and program websites, and serving as a liaison with graduate health professional programs.
  • Develop and maintain community partnerships that provide volunteer and job shadowing opportunities, coordinate the EOU Health Speaker Series, advise the Pre-Professional Health Club, and support recruitment, retention, accreditation, and program assessment activities.

Minimum Qualifications


Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field


Experience

  • Two (2) years working with students in higher education, adult education, student services or student personnel, counseling or social work, or educational administration
  • Two (2) years demonstrating the following required skills: problem-solving and critical thinking; strong written, verbal, and interpersonal ability; research and team skills; organizational and presentation skills; multi-tasking ability; and ability to prioritize work in alignment with the position’s focus

  • Must satisfactorily complete EOU criminal and credential background check. Having a criminal history is not an automatic bar to employment.

Preferred Qualifications



Education

  • Masters degree in Adult Education, Student Services, Counseling, Educational Administration, or a related field
  • Bilingual or multilingual skills


Experience

  • One (1) year of prior academic advising experience with student populations similar to EOU
