Job Summary
The University of North Georgia is accepting applications for an Access Systems Administrator (Genetec) position. The Access Systems Administrator serves as the technical owner of the institution’s access control platform, responsible for system configuration, daily operations, reporting, and troubleshooting. This role manages access levels, schedules, audits, and compliance while ensuring system accuracy and timely reviews. The position leads integrations with campus systems and serves as the primary contact for resolving software and hardware issues. Additionally, it oversees all Genetec-related projects and drives the development of a unified, efficient, and secure access control strategy across the organization. Strong technical skills and on-call availability for after-hours support are required.

Responsibilities
- Maintain and oversee Genetec access control systems, including system configuration, performance monitoring, and development of institution-wide policies, procedures, and standards to ensure consistent operations across campuses. Manage system integrations with space scheduling and other platforms, as required. Ensure accurate system functionality, timely updates, and continuity of operations across all scenarios. Stay current with Genetec enhancements and emerging access control technologies to continuously improve system effectiveness.
- Manage and control user access within the Genetec system, including assigning and maintaining access levels, time zones, and permissions for faculty, staff, and students. Ensure accurate data integration and timely updates, including immediate access removals when required. Develop standardized naming conventions and workflows to support consistent system administration.
- Oversee access governance processes, including access reviews, audits, administrative user permissions, and compliance monitoring. Maintain audit documentation, corrective action plans, and reporting processes. Ensure compliance with institutional policies and security standards. Establish and maintain standards for electronic and physical access management, including card access, administrative permissions and user roles, and assist in physical key governance as assigned.
- Coordinate and lead access control projects related to new construction, renovations, and system upgrades; collaborate with campus stakeholders (facilities, information technology, and public safety) to define standards and ensure successful system design, testing, and deployment.
- Supervise and support access control personnel, including workload management, performance evaluation, training, and professional development. Establish operational priorities, allocate resources, and serve as the primary escalation point for complex access control issues. Establish and oversee training programs to include technical support, user guidance, and reference materials for end users.
- Manage access control operations during emergencies, closures, and schedule changes; partner with public safety, facilities, and residence life to ensure secure, responsible, and uninterrupted access across campus.
- Makes IDs for all new students, Orientation groups, replacement IDs, faculty & staff IDs and dependent IDs for UNG. Assist with semester issuance of Nighthawks card.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Knowledge of Genetec access control systems required, Transact, Series25, Banner preferred.
- Understanding of access control principles, security and compliance standards, system integrations, audit and risk management practices.
- Strong technical troubleshooting and problem solving skills, system configuration and reporting, effective communication, and ability to analyze processes and implement improvements.
- Ability to be on-call and respond after hours when necessary, collaborate across departments, lead and supervise staff.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Genetec Certification Required
- Minimum 3 years’ experience with Genetec Access Control Administration

Proposed Salary
- The proposed salary range is: $73,155-$80,470.
