The University of Virginia Department of Medicine, Division of General, Geriatric, and Palliative Medicine, seeks an Administrative Generalist to support the Center for Ehlers-Danlos and Hypermobility Syndromes.


The position provides advanced administrative and operational support in a complex academic healthcare environment. Primary responsibilities include support to the Center Director, program and research coordination, recruitment and onboarding, meetings and events, communications, travel and expense administration, and special projects.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the Center Director’s complex calendar and coordinate meetings, events, advisory groups, agendas, materials, action items, and professional communications.
  • Coordinate Center projects and multidisciplinary initiatives; maintain timelines, trackers, reports, procedures, and shared resources.
  • Support research and scholarship activities, including meetings, documentation, presentations, publications, grant-related materials, and collaborator coordination.
  • Coordinate recruitment and onboarding for faculty, staff, learners, student interns, volunteers, and visiting collaborators.
  • Support Center communications, website content, program materials, inquiries, symposia, and educational or community outreach activities.
  • Coordinate travel and process reimbursements, purchasing requests, invoices, and project expenses in accordance with University and funding requirements.

Minimum Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s Degree or combination of education and related experience in lieu of a degree required.
Experience: 3+ years of relevant experience required.



Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in academic medicine, healthcare, higher education, a research center, or another complex organization, particularly supporting physicians, faculty, researchers, or senior leaders.
  • Experience with program or research coordination, project tracking, grant-related support, recruitment, onboarding, event planning, communications, HIPAA, or systems such as Workday, Oracle, Epic, Qualtrics, or SharePoint.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 and demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities, communicate effectively, exercise sound judgment, and handle confidential information.

Physical Demands
This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.



Hiring Range: $62,500 – $68,500 commensurate with education and experience.

Anticipated Start Date is September 2026.

  • This is a non-exempt-level, benefited position. Learn more about UVA benefits.
  • This position is based in Charlottesville, VA, and primarily performed on-site. It is eligible for a limited hybrid schedule based on operational needs and in accordance with UVA’s remote work guidelines.
