About This
Role
This position, which is under the supervision of the Cropping Systems Agronomist, provides assistance to the
research crop scientists and crop research team. The worker assists the supervisor in establishing, maintaining, and collecting research
data and harvesting field and greenhouse research plots. Following established procedures, the worker provides assistance in data entry and
analysis. Provides assistance maintaining lab, greenhouse, and field equipment.

This position is On-site.
All employees
must reside in the United States when they begin working to comply with state law. K-State is unable to provide remote or hybrid work
opportunities for residents of the state of Idaho.
What You’ll Need to Succeed
Minimum
Qualifications:
- Requires at least 1-year of relevant experience in agricultural sciences.
- Must be 18 years old in
order to operate a soil water instrument which contains radioactive material as required by the KSU Radiation Safety Office. - Valid
driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Education in the biological sciences, agricultural sciences,
agricultural systems, or agriculture mechanics. - Knowledge of the hazards and effects of pesticides (herbicides, insecticides,
fungicides, etc.) and the ability to read and interpret labels and MSDS/SDS instructions regarding safe and proper use of agricultural
chemicals. - Skill and ability to use computers and software, such as MS word, spreadsheet and electronic data transfer.
- Willingness to communicate errors or problems.
- Ability to read and follow spoken and written plans.
Additional Role Information:
- Valid driver’s license, upon employment, in order to drive state-owned
vehicles. - Work requires physical exertion and exposure to inclement weather.
- Must be able to transport in excess of 50
lbs., not exceeding 100 lbs. unassisted on a regular basis. Equipment used includes field scientific instruments, lab instruments, computers
and grain processing facilities. - The position involves regular (daily) use or contact with motorized vehicles such as pickup trucks
and utility vehicles.
