Midway University is seeking a high energy, well organized, Assistant Farm
Manager. We are a teaching farm and our staff, along with our Equine faculty, offer our students hands-on learning experiences both
inside and outside the classroom environment. This is a full-time, non-exempt position that will assist our Farm Manager in managing and
maintaining our equipment, equine facilities and the care, training and conditioning of our western and hunt seat herds. Hours will vary
based upon the needs of the farm. Weekend and holiday work will be required.
Examples of work duties, include but are not limited
to:
- Coordinate with head coaches and faculty the usage, training and conditioning of western and hunt seat horse herd
- Assist in the oversight of the University farm including facilities, equipment, and pastures.
- Assist in oversight for students
and student workers during their mandatory chore times. - Will be acting manager when Farm Manager is unavailable.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required, Bachelor’s preferred. A minimum of 2 years of farm experience
required. - Must be able to operate typical farm equipment (tractor, drags, truck and trailer, mower).
- Knowledge of equine
related veterinarian equipment is a must, as well as knowledge of equine lameness evaluation and basic equine first aid. - Ability to
develop feeding plans for different classes of horses, and pasture management required. - Experience working with students and/or
employees of differing ability levels with horses preferred.
